I'am leased to a large flatbed company, I recently had a chance to talk with one of the owners. He asked me what my business philosophy was. I told him this:
I was in the Army for eight years, I run my truck much like I ran my people. My truck is my solider and I'am the General, I make sure its taken care of, what it does and where it goes. I provide its funding and management. I told him that the company was like the Dept of Defense. He provides me guidelines to work within, my funding, and my choices for operations to comduct. In order to be successful we must have honesty, respect, and communication. We must have all three, if only one or two it all falls apart.
What is your philosophy?
What's your business philosophy?

Sorry, couldn't help it.Pound Puppy and chalupa Thank this. -
I will add that a truck is a business tool. It is a bonus if you can afford a show truck to do your business but it is only necessary to have a clean and well maintained power unit. I can do the same job with a basic freightliner that can be done with a 300 inch wheelbase pete with the monster engine and the ridiculous looking lowered seat and six foot tall shifter.

Take care of the customer.

A business is a 3 legged stool ... it's held up by 3 things - the shareholders, the customer and the employees.
The customer needs value on their purchase of service/product.
The shareholders need value on the return in the investment.
The employees need value in return for their service to the business.
Neglect any one of the legs of the stool and the business will fail to stand.chalupa Thanks this. -

"Do nothing for free." My time is valuable to me, if no one else. I charge accordingly.
