Oregon is a great place to live. You have everything here. Yeah it rains a lot but no matter where you go there are weather issues. I've lived in WA, OR, Alaska, KY and CA. Not to mention extended training in OK and TX. Portland is a great area and there are a lot of opportunities here.

And those people will never own a home. Retirement needs to be in the back of your mind the moment you start working. If not, you'll be 67 years old, homeless, and have no way to work yourself out of it.

Owning a house isn't the be-all and end-all of existence you know. It's simply one more choice you have to make.
