Not true, at all. You can only get CSA points from a roadside inspection conducted by a CVSA certified LEO.

    Harry Hickory Thanks this.

To be on CSA it must be a CSA certified inspection , not some local cop walking around checking lights.

A hired attorney can represent you so you don't have to appear. I had a "must appear" ticket reduced to a nonmoving violation by this firm before the court date and I never went to court. http://www.interstatetrucker.com/Default.aspx
And AGAIN , :director:tickets in your truck will NOT show up on your CSA UNLESS there is a CSA inspection when the ticket is written.

Sorry. But, I personally would not trust a printing/publishing company with my regulation questions. I only use the FMCSA website. Its a prime example why drivers get blind-sided with terminations and higher insurance rates. Have read many many threads on here about drivers getting blind-sided about being "accused" of being UNSAFE by their company and getting terminated. The federal govs website is the best. It can also explain the SMS scoring and the breakdown of, what they call the BASICs. Its why we all must tell our company about any tickets that we receive. If you have had a DOT inspection, we all know they run our CDL's, so they know whats on it. Its now considered an inspection and is involved. I have had to fire drivers for some of these reasons. No company likes to be surprised with something added to their SMS that wasnt reported to them. And yes, SMS is important. Just look at the FMCSA website and you will see.

Its because its run by a third-party company. NOT the police. Its a whole different ballgame.

Inspections with violations are supposed to be signed and returned within 15 days. The only way for a carrier not to be aware of a CSA violation would be because the driver didn't turn the report in. That is cause for termination. The DOT also sends the carrier a copy.

    Directly from the FMCSA site:

Do citations play a role in the Safety Measurement System (SMS) or the carrier Inspection Selection System (ISS) algorithm? For example, if a driver has a violation for a torn strap and receives a citation, does the citation add anything to the carrier's SMS percentile ranks or ISS values? Answer
State government handles citations and the Commercial Driver's License (CDL). The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is part of the Federal government. The Federal and State government use different data. Citations can influence the CDL, but they do not influence the SMS Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Category (BASIC) percentile ranks or ISS values. Those evaluation systems are influenced by violations as recorded on roadside inspections and crashes. To see which violations influence which BASICs, refer to Appendix A in theSMS Methodology document.

Here's from the FMCSA website. But JJKeller prints all the FMCSA literature. They are well trusted if they print it. They print all the CDL manuals, hazmat bible, logbooks, etc.

If a local cop or any cop that is not a DOT certified partner is considered a state violation and is not covered under the federal program. Like others said all violations are documented and recorded on the inspection report to count towards CSA2010. They don't have multiple ways of collecting the data. The inspection report and crash report is it. If you are involved in a wreck the DOT will be called. Running a red light a ticket is issued. If he is a partner of the CSA program an inspection will follow. You can even get a warning ticket and if an inspection follows you'll still get a negative score.

State MVR's are for holding you accountable as a driver CDL or not. CSA2010 holds you accountable as a commercial driver only through inspections which reflects on the company. The two don't intermix.
