While Millis does have its quirks, I believe they are one of the best starter companies. They have been fair to me for the most part. The equipment is nice, maintenance is done when needed, and pay is better than some of the mega carriers. I encourage anyone that doesn't already have a CDL to go through the Millis school and become a driver for them for at least year.

What about someone who has experience?
-
In my opinion only (opinions very and are not necessarily the views of others) you can do much better if you have at least one year experience. With that being said, you have to weigh all the pro's and cons of each company, to me getting home on a regular basis is not that important to others it's a make or break deal. I am in the position of looking strictly at the money aspect. After one year OTR I AVERAGED 37.7 cpm that's with bonuses included.

Just curious as to how long the average driver has been with Millis. Do most people leave after getting a year or two of experience there? And the ones who stick around, are they expected to become driver trainers or is that up to each individuals preference?

I thought summertime was when the miles were plentiful and they ran you hard, is it normal for freight to be slow this time of year? Any idea as to what changes may be forthcoming?

Hanymandan,
I am pushing forward with Millis Training on Sept 16 and I am looking forward to it. I have done a lot of research and come to fine Millis to be a well respected company who offers great training. It is funny how I see so many folk complain about the companies and yes they may be bad, but we must all remember we are in control of our lives and the roads we travel. If the street your traveling on is to bumpy then get off that street is the way I look at it. I've served in the US Army for many years and have done and been to some crazy places that increase the pucker factor in my rear and I have served as a police officer for numerous years and I must say in either of those positions you are under the scrutiny of everyone at all times and it has it joys and extremely in the suck times, but you must have the integrity to do whats right even when no one is looking because in reality all you have is your integrity and once that is compromised your personal mission is a failure.
So to complain is useless. I've been homeless and seen my fair share of the rough, but my vision is clear and I will not waiver because of the holes in the donuts, but I am learning to see the WHOLE DONUT and drive on to reach my LIFE's objective and that is to be HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY (from the Duck Commander). So for those reading this make your path clear, keep it plain and go the extra mile to GET'ER DONE........... PEACE
