I was about to suggest finding a small-medium carrier that also brokers freight. Maybe you know of one? LOL.

Seriously though.. a carrier like that will usually cut some sort of deal if you're worth having around (safety score / reputation) and fit their needs. What's not to like about that for them? Since you have authority, you're pretty much going exclusive with them while bearing almost all the risk. Of course, with a give-back on rates since you would be running scheduled loads sold by someone else versus finding and negotiating your own. Plus expect some sort of trailer rent or discount using someone else's equipment.

Surely by now you've hauled for a few carriers like that. Ask your regular/favorite broker if that's something they do on their carrier side. Without even thinking hard I have about 2-3 local customers like that who would probably work with me fairly on those terms if that was something I wanted to do.

Or you could just click on your junk e-mail folder and give JBH power only a call. Same sort of deal, just real cheap.

    BigBadBill Thanks this.

I own my own dispatch company for owner operators. Why would you not go that route. At least you only give up 5% to us or you could sign on with a big company and they take almost 20%. There are a few of us out that do this. I always preload my drivers and you always pick the load you want. I never force dispatch anyone. I dont want to give my direct contact out because i don't want to be banned from the board but if you are interested. I guess send me a private message

JB Hunt is looking for owner operators with their own authority to pull their trailers.

Isn't this question a bit like " I'm a licensed CDL driver with my own truck and looking for a CDL driver to drive while I ride along"?

Kinda what i thought. Why get or have authority if you are going to put all your eggs in 1 basket anyhow?

JB Hunt has an independent division. You run under your authority and pull their trailers.

Sorry Mikec and Semi Crazy (with all do respect) but I don't recall asking what either of you thought of what I did with my own business. I however did ask a very viable and pertinent question as to where I am going to take MY business in the future.
