Just curious: Do the planners try to give you a local run before something decent? I could understand if I was somewhere without a lot of trucks but I'm in Fontana!! Every 5th truck here is a day cab!?! If they want me to do local work, fine, but in Tacoma where I get the benefit of being local (pay, hot meals, hotter wife)...![]()
Whats your 20, interstate drivers?

yeah... I hate when they start using me as a local driver, i dont get paid as a local so dont run me as one... then we are just cheap labor. I posted before, where they sent me a load from IL to MO, I was hooked up to the loaded trailer about to head out, and I get a local run out of Mccook, 2 hours after I get the one Im currently doing, and i say I cant do that. his response is why not you have to, it goes with the other one you got, whoever does one has to do the other... wtf??? so why was it sent 2 hours later, and Im loaded, so you want me to take this trailer an hour east back to chicago, to do a local and then get back on the road with this one? after that he was like nevermind Ill let the planners know... sometimes these people dont think, but like I said, cheaper to get us to run local stuff when we're gettin paid mileage and only going 30 or so miles even tho its taking us like 3 hrs if you are live load/unload
-
Well I got switched.. ky load went away and off to st louis to pretend in local for a load. Took a load from the drop lot to pepsi out by union mo theb came back abd got a load up to kankakee il.. appt for 1500 today.. so here I sit. They put me in a dock but no promise of being unloaded till appt time. Least im here and hopefully get some miles in till friday..
Usually when I do the small stuff, ill use the local driver macro to punch in when I start the load and punch out when im finished unloading. I get paid miles and hourly.. makes me feel a little better.Palazon Thanks this. -
came back off Hometime today, sat in the truck for about 2 hours with no dispatch, so I sent a message saying i was running out of the truck and to call me if a dispatch was sent. there were 2 other drivers in their trucks at the yard. still sitting at home lol
-
Yeah, I don't leave the house til they dispatch me... but I live 5 min from the yard.
-
Lol, my truck sits about 25 foot from my front door.. so I usually check the day before and they have been good on preplannin me...
No miles but I guess ill be home friday. Came from kankakee and went to the mccook yard. Got a trl and Ill unload around morris il tomorrow and then preplanned for a load outta chicago to kc for friday morning.. not happy about 958 miles for the week but I want hometime.. thankfully my wife isnt a complainer and brings in a solid chunk of bacon to back me up..
On a good note.. Im at the morris ta.. and I love eating a R's place! The fried chicken is good but my wifes is better.. I have a young.. hotter paula deen at home.. so ita hard to eat anything but her cooking.. but my big ole tummy manages.. lol.
Then I top it all off with a 4 pack of cupcakes from the bakery here! -
the bread pudding there, is HUGE! i thought ok just a small piece or something, it came in a big salad bowl that looked like a meal itself.
