I have a pick up at ALLIED TUBE in Harvey, IL
My appointment was scheduled at 10 am, then I hit heavy road construction and realized I won't make it on time, so I called them and explained ect....They said no problem, I arrived 10:30 checked in recieved my dock number and pulled in and they want you to un-hook the trailer. I'm new too this and I've been so busy I didn't grab a hard hat. The guy wasn't to thrilled about it, so here I am waitng behind the line. I counted 4 trucks "Cresco Lines Inc" that came in one after another , got loaded and took off, they still haven't started loading me yet! Either Cresco has seniority or I was late 30 mins or that's just the way they run things I suppose :-/
I went back too check in area talked to the foreman she said your order just went out they'll be starting. God knows how long it'll take them to finish when they start loading, and the other thing is that they ate going to put the tarp on...OH BOY. It's a good time to do a pre trip around mt tractor and I came across on one of my hydrologic shock absorbers is leaking. How much for that to repair, just threw on new axle seals on my drive axles with new brakes cost me 590.00 at TA.

    Welcome to trucking.

As for the shock, price of the shock + labor to change it.

Lot of places will kick you off their property without a HARD HAT , SAFETY VEST and steel toed work boots , some require long pants in the summer as well just in case you show up in your beach outfit , muscle shirt ,cutoffs and flip flops..

Buying tools is often about the same cost as having some1 else do it. sometimes cheaper. heck a bottle jack and a $40 harbor freight electric impact will do a lot. the impact alone will do the shock but you may need heat

Full ppe should be on your truck at all times.
Change the shock yourself for gods sake.
Pick up an airline and a decent air impact gun. Both will save your ### more times to count.

I was agree, change your own shock. Grab the wrenchs and change it out. No need for a jack to change shocks. Heck I've even changed out air bags without a jack..
Cresco might be an in house carrier for that shipper. Like Leftlane said you need all your ppe gear at all times.
Heck my wife gears up even when we do not need too. She allways wants to make sure are doing things the correct way.

Remember, their play ground, their rules..

You should have 2 bolts. One at the top of the shock and one on the bottom.
Just take the bolts out. Either top or bottom, no certain order. Pull old shock out and place new shock in. Rebolt and your good to go..

Ok, PPE is hard hat/ safety vest/ safety glasses with side shields and steel toe boots.
Go to harbor freight Northern tool and even lowes or home depot.

    keepontrucking81 Thanks this.
