Yeah I know being diagnosed with cancer and forced out of the truck was sure a convenient excuse wasn't it. Having to go bankrupt and lose everything, yep just what I wanted to do.

I am happy to say I am cancer free for 9 months now and look forward to getting back into a truck very soon. Just past my DOT physical got the license renewed and am clear to go.

Also remember when a truck is on lease some other person might of had it before you and most definitely someone will be getting the truck after you so the company does not lose if they did they would not offer the walk away. There is reasons why some companies offer walk away leases you may lose your "escrow" money but you will not go broke if something happens and you need to walk away from it.

Oh and I sleep very well at night now not going through chemo and radiation treatments.

Yeah, I can't speak for Swift. Are you saying that they take advantage of gullible wannabe truckers? Say it isn't so!

I'm just saying that there are good leases out there that give you the same option to terminate the lease early that the lessor has. Signing a lease with a company who controls your freight without giving you a painless exit is foolish. I turned my truck in after giving notice and got almost all of my maintenance escrow (after deducting for an oil change and detail job) back. After five months of time off, I went back to the same company and am happily leasing a new truck. No credit ding, and most certainly no shame.

For the original poster, read your lease! Or have a lawyer read it for you. It may be as simple as returning the truck to Swift in one piece and walking away.

A man's word is his bond in Texas. They did you wrong, you have a right to make it right, if not, I go by my word. I was so late so many times they fired me, Just saying.

Seems everyone is so tyed up with the LEASE / no LEASE BS , your a dead beat / no I am not :) that no one has replied to the OP's original question of "What is worse thing possible if i park my Swift lease truck and go else where and get my own ".

    1) It will be on your credit report so slim chance of getting backed for $ on another truck.
    2) SWIFT will have it reported as an abandoned truck on your employment record.

I can completely understand it if you went through something like you did. I did not aim my post to someone that had a completely legitimate reason for falling behind. I lost my dad to cancer when I was 20 and he was 41. I hope for a full recovery and a long life for you.

I apologize if I offended you and I will say I should have said in my original post that physical ailments are an OK reason to me for a default.

    Good luck to you.

First and foremost... I shouldn't have to explain why or anyone unless they request it; to explain why they would walk away from a debt. It must be of legit reasons or they wouldn't be researching and asking questions. Now, I am man enough to do what's right, but it takes two parties for a contract to work... So, I am now looking for my options since the other party is not doing their part. I live, eat, sleep, and dream about miles... I love a fat check! However, preplanners can fudge ur world to the ppint u are only making truck payments. Now, lets talk about my original question with optomistic people and ignore the targeting pessimistic people.

It's been a while, but a new LP Swift driver had me look over his lease and it didn't seem to be a walk away type like Prime is. OP, you have the lease with you, what does it say about turning it in?

There is a clausr in the contract... short and sweet about using equip for another party... I'm gonna make some calls first of the week.
I'm not just gonna drop the ball..
They can wreck my credit is about all it says, but I'm interested in the part of going elsewhere. says i have to remove all and anything related to swift, plates, permits, decals. etc...
