Well, you did the right thing. That's what the runaway ramps are there for.
Now, as to what will happen. The trooper will call the wrecker to pull you out. They will check the brake system to try to determine what the cause was that you didn't have brakes. They will check to see why the jake did not work.
If they find a malfunction that you could not have prevented, you'll get an "Attaboy".
If the find you had neglected to find the problem during a pretrip inspection, because it was something you should have seen, then you get a hefty fine and many CSA points. And you may be out looking for a job, since the bill from the towing company won't be cheap.

Idk but you better get to know your equipment and learn how to adjust brakes. most trailer brakes are never adjusted right if your company drop and hooks.
I have been thru there pulling kroger/king soopers grocery trailers with chains on, and was fine a few years ago.

Stop racing against tracking devices and run safer. you can go thru there a million times too slow. 1 time too fast can kill you or make you change your shorts. you are on a public highway, not a nascar track. take it easy on the equipment and you will be less stressed as well.

I'd honestly say there's no excuse ever to take a runaway ramp unless something failed. In this situation the driver failed to slow down in the first place. I would say this is almost as bad as a rollover. Good luck on your next career.

Wolf creek pass the dangerous mt in Colorado. They have 2 back to back escape ramps. That's what they're there for.Why would you ask if its right or wrong?Did your company dispute it?I took that mountain and brks started smoking only I managed to get to the side till they cooled. My jakes wasn't working either.Something was wrong with the trk that the companies mechanics should have caught before issueing it to a driver.I was down for a few days.So anyway what happened after that?Did a wrecker come get you out and if so is your company going to charge you for it?

I've been driving the mountains for decades and never needed to use an escape ramp. Check your brakes/Jake before you drop off a hill and slow down. We have grades that have no ramps just rock walls/trees and cliffs. If you can't put it in the ditch and walk away your going to fast. Might want to rethink your options.

Yeah there's lot's of big grades with curves, trees and cliffs and no runaway ramps out here, rolling 100,000-104,000lbs most of the time I pay serious attention to things before descending.

Expensive manuver. They will send your company a bill to restore the ramp from the damage your truck did. What was your GRWT? Your profile says you're a student. Did you not update the info, or are you really a student? Were you in the truck by yourself? If not, what did your instructor/co-driver say about what happened? Did you get a moving violation? I can't answer your question until you answer mine.
