I haven't bothered to have a CB in the truck for more than 7 years. Too much immature crap. Besides, I can get better info on my smartphone or iPad for weather/traffic/etc than anything on the CB. Any time I would need to chat with other friends out on the road, I preferred the cell phone rather than the CB anyway. Much better having a private, uninterrupted phone call instead of the CB.
I agree with grabberblue, more enjoyable to listen to some tunes instead. Times have changed with better mobile Internet and cell phone technology, especially streaming live radio/music. Using a CB today just seems so outdated! More of a poor man's cellphone! LOL!

Same here. It is not my truck, and not my CB, so I will not touch it.
With my X company, I would sometimes have it on as I would see other guys I knew from my company. However, through the years I have used it less and less. Whenever you need actual information about something (like road conditions), no one will talk to you. Every so often I would turn it on to laugh at the ridiculousness going on. That was it. My CB is now packed away in my garage. -
Hey Jim I know its late with you getting home but I hope your first week went well!
NYVET Thanks this. -
Matt, it's amazing. I am so looking forward to Monday! This is the best decision I've ever made!
drozzer69, TomOfTx and Extreme4x4 Thank this. -
*sighs* nothing like working a good full day in a nice air conditioned truck, to walk into a nice air conditioned store. Sitting in this stores break room having my dinner with NO air conditioning. Wow this store really wants their night crew to not take a break back here! Lol its cool On the sales floor.

Its been neighborhood markets for me all day. Tomorrow is a reefer class. Then, next week there is a Grassroots meeting.
It's a tough life, but someone has to do it. -

Well I start my mentor week tomorrow. I really can't believe all or any of this yet. Just a couple months ago I was asking questions and telling you of my progress, from first interview to orientation, and now I'm actually going to be in the seat (not the uncomfortable plastic one).Buzzard2157 and luvtotruck Thank this. -
Lol I hear ya Jim! I don't think Greatwide will be going anywhere any time soon. We didn't even get a reefer class. Greatwide also has their mechanics in the shop at the grocery DC. Just too much work and not enough drivers. We only have about 137 drivers in our DC and it has only been open for 9 years. I would love to see more drivers in our area taking up the gro DC. Good luck on your week out. If you feel you and your mentor are not getting along, you can ask to be placed with another one. Most importantly, routine routine routine! Get into one and do it that way ever time. Let me know how it goes for you when you get home. Be safe this week Jim!
Buzzard2157 Thanks this.
