The problem with having a 6 pack in the truck is that in many States it is illegal.
I used to work part time at a Liquor store... a few extra bucks, and a discount on my.purchases...
This store was in Newark DE, home of the University of Delaware Fighting Blue Hens, and while Delaware is not that well known outside maybe Joe Flacco it is a rather large school and was a regular in the Playboy top party schools. As such there were often undercover police in the parking lot who would check ID's of people coming out if they thought they were underaged... one time a guy stopped in on his way he from work, driving a straight body, day cab, moving truck. He got some beer and a bottle and when he climbed back in his truck he was arrested.
The truck had a DOT number on the side so it was illegal for him to have alcohol in the vehicle.Wanderingaimlessly Thanks this. -
If you're going to drink out here, be smart about it. That's all I'm saying

As many others I too like to have a beer or two on my break or on my resets. Technically as a driver, you are NOT supposed to have alcohol in your truck at all. Did I do it tho, yup, sure did and never had a problem. I even collected different beer bottles at one time too.
Now to the good part tho, one of those said beer bottles I had got me in a heap of S*** (self edit).
Coming out of San Francisco heading to Dallas, Tx I went through a scale house in New Mexico and go figure as I pulled on the scale my breaks squeaked so they pulled me around for an inspection. Passed my logs, truck was just fine and then Mr. DOT officer asked "You don't have any drugs or anything inside do you?" In which I answered "Of course not Mr. DOT man.", he replied with a "Can I search then?", and stupid me (STUPID, STUPID ME) said "Sure". What did he come out with about 5 minutes later? Well that beer bottle I kept from Mexico I had gotten about 4 months back (doing a reset in Laredo, TX) I was saving for my collection. Sure it was empty and inside my suitcase, under my bunk stowed away, but he found it and I got shut down for 24 hours, fired from my company and basically black balled for the next 2-3 years from about any decent trucking company.
Lets just say, lesson learned... Now I only drink at home or AWAY from my truck.Wanderingaimlessly Thanks this. -

Doent physical control of a commercial vehicle get interpreted as in possession of? -
If you have to question when you can and can't drink around your driving job, then maybe, you may need to look at your drinking.
