I drive an old Ford van with lots of empty space on the sides and back... plenty of room for me to paint a nice message.
Edit:
P.S. to legislators in California...
My van has NO catalytic convertor and probably emits more pollution than a coal-fired power plant. Oh yeah... and I splash gas on the ground when I fill up... and burn tires to heat my home... and I'm mailing GuysLady a glass jar chock full of polluted Alabama air and she's gonna let it out in California!

where is OOIDA in all this?

They've tried to fight it, and have lost. I guess in a way the Ladies and Gentlemen who have taken up this banner with me are kinda like the Southern Home Guard in Civil War. We don't really stand a snowball's chance in Hades, but we're not going down with out trying.

Thanks for the link and the adress gearjammer. I just e-mailed my comments and also snailmailed a letter. In the best of manners I made my voice heard, although it may fall on deaf ears. I also suggested all the lawmakers who will be deciding the fate of this issue to join in on helping clear our air by not turning heat or air on in the workplace and bedrooms of their offices and homes untill the temperature criteria being set for our industry is met by them also. Listen carefully to what I say next... THESE PEOPLE ONLY UNDERSTAND MONEY. Sorry for yelling but I feel it nessasary. DO NOT buy one dimes worth of anything in Pa, if you have to layover to load or deliver take enough food and fuel to hold you over. I will guarantee you if enough of us do it the business's that rely on us for a livelihood will soon be in an uproar with state government for relief. This CAN and WILL work. It will only take willpower and some time. Hope I haven't come across as a smartazz or anything but this ridiculous lawmaking has got to be curbed. We are despised in every aspect of the word by the theiving, better than thou beemer driving types that fill our statehouses, and not just in the keystone state either.

Wives want to help you hubby while he's on the road? Read the threads, read landline, go on line. Get educated on proposed laws. Keep him informed , WRITE OR CALL LAWMAKERS, get anyone who will listen to write their district reps. ( I have gone so far as to make form letters about something I feel is important then sen't them to everybody I know with a stamped adderssed envelope. All they heve to do is sign and drop it in the mail. I also email to let them know to look for the lette in the mail. Remember these laws affect us all and he's busy driveing.

I think the biggest effect would be to have a truck at the hearings, sitting there cold, then invite the commissioners to sit in the bunk for a specific period of time and ask them if they would like to spend 10 hours in that environment. Of course you would have to hope for a cold day.
Suggest they go home and turn the heat OFF for the night and see how they like that. This way you bring the problem and the solution down to a personal level. Of course they have to be open minded enough to accept the challenge. You would need a skilled "convincer" to get through some closed minds.
Another issue to consider... Look at all those train locomotives that sit in rail yards idling for hours on end. How much fuel are they wasting???? Oh, I forgot, there are no houses nearby and how do you enforce that?
Still another issue for O/O...
How much fuel does a truck burn at idle??? 1-1/2 gals per hour???? There are a lot of hotels that have a $39. rate that would about even out the cost of fuel and your truck is not running. Seems like this could be a viable option on occasion. -
So far not a blasted one of them will accept the challenge.
