Amen brother, stick to learning how to drive the truck and trailer and get good at it for about a year or more, get your training paid and then go for leasing if you want to. Once you switch you can't come back to company side.

    $lim and DesertTraveler Thank this.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I could have sworn that I've read on here that someone switched from lease back to company side.

I will tell you that it is closer to impossible than possible in the middle of a lease.

If you complete your lease it much closer to possible than impossible.

Yes it is a walk a way lease, but its not a walk away lease and into a company truck

I guess this question is for Chuck or IP, I have accumulated everything I need for my truck during PSD/TnT, ie radio, sat radio, fridge ect. Do I need to bring all of this with me when I get to upgrade training to put in my truck. I am on home time right now and I live close enough to Springmo that I will be driving down the night before training ( STL ). Or after my training is over on fri and hopefully get issued a truck do I get to take it home to set it up? Rather do they hand you the keys and a load assignment to my phone and off I go into the wild blue yonder?

Bring it all with you the last day, they aren't going to let you bobtail from SpringMo to STL if company. When you leave SpringMo, you're leaving with a load to somewhere. During upgrade time, you get a free room at the motel till you have a load out, might want to consider it for a few nights. Give you a place to store things till you have a truck. Most dispatcher's will let you take your truck to the motel to load up.

Yea I plan on bring it all with me and storing it in the motel room until time if needed, It was just a thought. And I knew I wouldn't be able to bobtail out to stl. I was thinking maybe a drop in STL ( if available ) something along those lines. Im a neat freak, so it would be nice to have a little time to get setup.

You should have some spare time. They aren't going to give you the keys and make you leave right away. When I got mine, I didn't leave till the following day.

Make sure you check the heck out of your truck. The first truck they gave me ended up with a blown turbo, don't want that after you leave springmo.

You need to find out exactly when you are supposed to check out of the hotel after your truck is assigned.

If your truck has to go to the freightliner, some off site shop, or is not ready to be moved into for sone reason, then your fleet manager has to either arrange payment for your room or you will be billed and will have to get reimbursed by your FM.

if there is no shop work to be done and you are only waiting for a load, you will be paying for that room without reimbursement. Same goes for anytime you are at the terminal in the future. You'll only be reimbursed for hotel rooms if your truck has to be worked on off site. You can live in your truck waiting for terminal shop appointments, and unless they are putting your truck up on a jack, you can stay in the sleeper while they are working on it.

also, company drivers are not allowed to BT from the terminal to the hotel without permission from their FM. So if you want to pack your truck from your room, get permission. Its a reasonable request and I've got permission each time I got a new truck. (Unload the old, clean it up, turn it in, get new, load it up)

now sometimes the outbound bay guys just wave you thru without checking, but if they do check, be prepared to be turned back into the yard until you get permission

    DesertTraveler Thanks this.
