12v cooler vs inverter with fridge. If you pick the 12v cooler has anyone used the 12v freezer? I would rather get an inverter with fridge I think to get things much colder etc.

You could always go with a 12V portable refrigerator. A couple of brands are Engels, & Dometic/WACO.

I got 2 43 qt ac/dc fridge freezer.i use 1 as a fridge,1 as a freezer.they work great.they are a little heavy at about 50 lbs. each.i keep them strapped down on the upper bunk.i just keep them plugged into my inverter.i keep the fridge at 36 and the freezer at 0.

What brand are they? I heard that a few of them burned the 12v plugs out. I don't think they were using the inverter though.

edge star.i got mine at compactappliance.com.i got one of mine at there scratch and dent section really cheap.i just prefer the inverter because it's been my experience if you hit a bad bump, those 12 v plugs can pop right out,and you don't find out for hours.

I pulled the passenger seat out of my truck and ratchet strapped a 3.3 cubic feet refrigerator in it's place. I also put one of those soft dog food bowl mats under the refrigerator to help keep it from sliding around. I installed (mounted) a 1000 watt power inverter and wired it straight from the battery. I also have a small microwave, crock pot and a coffee maker. I can carry enough food with me to last almost two weeks. If I get low on food I just find a 24 hour Walmart or grocery store that I can get in and out of fairly easily, although I have been known to jump a curb or two to get to groceries.:biggrin_255:

I also have a small propane grill for cooking outside during the cooler months. It's much cheaper and healthier to eat out of the truck than to buying truck stop food. Now if I could just figure out a way to install a toilet and shower I would be in great shape!:mwink:
