Fiew years ago when I-40 was closed for a year or longer I was looking for some good detour and went trough this US129. There was no any restriction for trucks just advisory. I was so happy I didnt kill anybody there. Only sports cars there and bikes. Mayby I havent much experience but Manhattan, Colorado in winter without chains or Utah 13% up hill (when I was going for skiing) was nothing.Last edited: Jun 13, 2013

I guess it depends what is more tolerable to a specific driver. I would take bad traffic and rude 4 wheelers over countless low bridges and tolls anyday. You might differ. You have to carry a bag of cash to pay all those NYC toll booths. Plus around LA there are several nook n crannies you can stop with a semi. NYC is like Chicago no place to stop unless you go at least 15 miles out of the city.

Yeah and appointment is always too early. In La you have pacific time. NYC is still the worst

I grew up in Brooklyn & spent far too much time in all the sh*tholes known as NYC/Bronx/Bklyn?Queens/Long Island/Staten Island etc....avoid all at all costs with a big Rig. Nothing quite like driving around Columbus Circle wondering if you're gonna crush Abbdullah or his cousin Muhhamed in their Yellow Cabs, nevermind the Korean soccer moms who should NEVER have been issued a License in the first place! I delivered on a dedicated Toys R Us acct in NYC, NOT FUN!

You could probably scare those cabbies away with a bar of soap and deodorant. Some of those cab drivers stink!Speedloader Thanks this.

I can get you and your truck just about anywhere in NYC without paying a toll. I can't get you up across the Hudson toll free thoo. I can also give decent parking spots for a hiway truck in every boro of NYC .... well, at least I could 10 years ago when I ran the tri-state area and the city regularly. Maybe things have changed a bit.

There's a lot of places you can park a truck. But those are generally closely guarded secrets that you have to find for yourself.
I don't mind NYC. And if you're complaining about tolls, you're not getting paid enough on your load for going to NYC.'olhand and Speedloader Thank this. -
Crazy wonderful place to drive....NYC
Speedloader Thanks this. -
I can tell ya if you never contemplated getting out of your truck and beating a cabbie sense-less you have never backed into the manhattan post office docks on 10th ave.
