Difficult to imagine how much trucking has changed. I remember when Schneider drivers in the 70s were home often, and I think were union, making almost the same wages as Roadway and others. They probably made 3 times comparitively to what they make now. Someone can maybe set me straight on this.
On a another note though, I think companies must pull their hair out trying to find fit drivers now days who are not married to a dog. I do not remember back in the day.......
Do I think it was bait and switch?.... sure. Honesty left this country about 2 decades ago. Look at south of the border, and you can see what lies ahead for all of us. The only way anything will get done is with a payoff. Almost there now.....
It has to start NOW.... with all of us. One person, one day at a time, being forthwright, if we are to salvage anything for our children and grand children. We are on a very slippery slope.....

I think you are talking about the old Schneider "Transport" not the Schneider "National" that it is now. Yes you are correct, they were indeed union drivers and made much more money than the "National" drivers. They were the original drivers and Don Schneider kept them around when he started the "National" division and expanded the company. There were still a lot of them around when I was with the company but when they retired they were not replaced. I believe they are all gone now (correct me if I'm wrong).Stone Express Thanks this.

I am a Veteran of the US Army and have worked for Schneider for 3 years. Best OTR company in the world. I am sorry you had such a bad experience, but they saved my life. Thanks.

Exactly. Can't blame a company for wanting to protect themselves. I feel sorry for the guy, but come on...

if your heart rate is 169 and you're not running a marathon I think you need to see a doctor. I am a bigger guy and similar age to the OP and 140 is pushing it for me when jogging or cycling.
Bilbirk Thanks this. -
Another reason to stay away from Bottom Feeder Companies...More and more are ''just getting there'' only to mind #### drivers and make them uproot there life...This is standard for many POS Companies toying with peoples lives....This is another reason why drivers need to STRIKE...
-
The ''best''...?...Well for you,i guess...LMFAO..
-
Well name a better OTR company then? If you say anything with a CR in front of it I'll be laughing my butt off...What Swift? Werner? ha ha ha... I think Schneider wins even with your strict rule to follow... JB Hunt?

O/O or Company.?

so true.
where does that slave attitude come from? instead of supporting your fellow-driver people rush to kiss *** of a beloved employer they barely know despite of facts or the story. that is exactly why truck drivers - and illegal construction workers - are the only ones to be forced to do a few hours a day job for free, could be told that having dinners with their families are not needed more then 5 times a year, could be forbidden to run AC in Cali heat to "save mother nature" while civilians drive 8mpg fords to the beach using them as one person vehicle. they can keep promoting their new masters all they want, but that never protects from all the things you listed above.old time and landstar8891 Thank this.
