IMO if its just blocks away...not under a load, not gonna abandon the truck, not even in the same state where your personal vehicle is... etc.....i find nothing wrong with it....its all in how you go about it....

My dad, when he was alive he use to love checking out the equipment other companies were using. He was like a kid in a candy store and 99% of the time he would hire the drive.Unfortunate Son, Giggles the Original and CertifiedSweetie Thank this. -
If I worked for a small company, I would let him fill out the application and mount it to my "Wall of Shame"double yellow Thanks this. -

If you have the ability to get on here and debate this, you probably could have had your online application sent and approved by now and probably be on hold for your first phone interview. I'm just sayin'...
randal02lee Thanks this. -
Of all the guys who said they did it did your employer know you were doing it or did you not have the common courtesy to tell them?

Sublime, teddy_bear6506 and truckon Thank this.

Everytime someone comes to fill out an application and driving another companies truck I let them fill it out and throw it in the trash. It is very unprofessional not to mention a waste of fuel and your current employers time.

The way they see it is they can get someone to cover that seat the very next day. These companies, I do have a beef with. Unfortunately, (especially in my area) these types make up the majority. They make a lot of promises to a veteran driver, but at the end of the day they treat you just like they would any newbie! I don't play those games.
I am a reasonable guy. If I have a problem, I always go to them first to try and get it worked out. If they don't want to work with me--if they want to play the game of hardball--I've become quite good at that game as well. In the end, I do what I have to do to take care of my family and pay those that I gave my word that I would pay. Too, each of us are going to have our own opinions on a subject such as this one, and I say, "To each his or her own."truckon, CertifiedSweetie, landstar8891 and 1 other person Thank this.
