Best Fuel Cards

u can look @ NASTC they have a fuel card thru fleet one; savings of vary from .01 - .50 or more; ur in a pool of 50,000+ trucks so ur gonna get better discounts than what some of the bigger carriers get & just depends on where u fuel in their network. I've had it when I was an o/o & did well with it & still have friends who use it. don't remember what membership to nastc is today but in less than 2 weeks u can pay for the membership with the savings u will get.

 

Most of the major fuel cards work pretty much the same. I prefer TCH or Comdata. Some brokers and factors have their own fuel card program where you can get fuel discounts using their card. The kicker is that you can't load the card yourself. You will need to haul loads for brokers who have their own cards and leave sufficient funds on the card for fuel purchases. If you have your own card you can load it as needed, but your discounts may be more limited.

 

I'm using fleet one. Have had no major issues. Works at a lot of non-chain fuel stations. As well as big-chain.


Fuel rebates, and you can add services to your card. Aka. Tire repair. Or oil change

 

I also use fleet one with QPN( don't know if all fleet one use that or not) but I also have had no issues with some pretty good discounts... My largest to date was .28... I only have authority east of the Mississippi though so can't say if its any different out west. An I've also only had it for 2 months too.

Like the previous poster it has a lot of smaller truck stops which I personally like. Mine doesn't work at pilot/flying j. I can buy from loves but not much of a discount and almost all TA's with a decent discount.

They have a website I keep on my phone of all the participating truck stops and even highlight the pricing partner ones that I look at whenever I'm somewhere new. Hope this helps

 

I work for a company that uses the NASTC fuel card. Which is the same as the fleetone QPN card that another member referenced. I work as fleet manager for a small 3 truck operation and I saw that we were saving so much money that I had my family trucking company (2 trucks) get the card as well.


You get the discount at the pump so no rebate you simply pay less. Also makes fuel taxes easier because all of your fuel purchases are on the fleetone website so you can login and see everything.
You get the biggest discount is at TA/Petro and then to fill in the gaps between TA locations they give discounts at small truck stops. You can use the card at Loves and Pilot/Flying J but no discount. It makes since because if TA/Petro is going to give you a discount then they want exclusivity from the other big guys.

NASTC does cost $200 to $250 per year and before you can get the card someone representing you has to attend one day learning session about NASTC at their headquarters in TN. However, even with the cost and day TN we save so much that it is worth it.
