Ok I have a question. I am currently working for a company that drives straight trucks and does not log due to being in a 150 mile radius. Now they also have tractor trailers that are sometimes required to be driven. Ok so lets say I was driving 8 hours in my straight truck and returned to warehouse at 4 pm. If I was then told to take the combination vehicle to another location how would I log this? Would I begin my log as on duty at 4pm? Still have the 11 and 14 or would I have to log driving the straight truck also? I do not want a ticket or worse if something came up. Please any and all help is appreciated.

Log requirement is based on the total hours you operate and the radius, not on the equipment. You must log the entire day whenever you work more than 12 consecutive hours or exceed the radius. I found it easier to log every day whether it was required or not.

OK well I work delivering bottled water and make sometimes 50 stops a day. How do I log that. Not enough room to log fifty or more stops.

You would log the straight truck as line 4 (if you take a lunch etc it would be off duty) then to drive the Tractor/trailer if not local it would be driving.
The time doing the non-cdl vehicle would be on-duty not driving and the time driving the tractor trailer (if within 100 air mile radius) would be on duty. If going outside of 100 air mile radius you would need to log driving as an otr driver would do!
If a driver works in a warehouse & works for another trucking company (driving) he must log it on-duty not driving for the time at the warehouse!
Question 11: Must nontransportation-related work for a motor carrier be recorded as on-duty time?
Guidance: Yes. All work for a motor carrier, whether compensated or not, must be recorded as on-duty time. The term "work" as used in the definition of "on-duty time" in §395.2 of the FMCSRs is not limited to driving or other nontransportation-related employment.
I am not the best person on this situation but I will say it would # least be line 4! Therefore you could not work 11 hours within the 150 air mile radius (which is only for drivers who have a NON-cdl) and then drive 6 hours for a run over 100 air mile radius because you would be driving passed the 14th hour of the time you started your day.
