Gee, do I smell a union organizer here? Well, I dont think you can get all truckers to shut down. In this economy especially, a lot are just happy to have a job. Personally I am happy with my place in the sun, so to speak. If you are not happy, find a company you like, there are a lot of good jobs out there but they wont come to you. If trucking is not yor thing, find another, provided there is another position available in this society.

Menehune it is not about the companies it about that this industry hasn't had a pay raise in over 25 years despite what companies say! Enough is enough...will have EOBR's and Electronic logs and well next will only be able to run 40 hours a week with shutting down Friday until Monday morning at 6am!

Because I saw that you started out at .25 cpm...it would give me an idea as to whether or not pay has gone up at all. It doesn't look like it however I would really like to know what starting pay was ten years ago... Thought you might know had you been out that long, but you haven't...

Actually if you read my post you would see that all I said was that if you dont like your company, for whtever reason, maybe you should find another. You are right, that it is not about a specific company, as some pay better then others. I am glad to see that you have been in the industry long enough to determine that it has not had a pay raise in 25 years. Personally I have seen a big increase in pay since say the 1980's. If memory served me right pay was between 12 and 20 cents per mile. Well, as for those rule changes, and government intervention, you are definently correct. They are getting rediculously worst. But, who to blame, how about us truck drivers. How many vote, or are politically active? We have become the red headed step child of the country. The rules will only get worst, before it gets better, if it ever gets better.
Besides, we dont need union in the industry. Then it will get ever worst then it is now. Once they get their foot in the door they believe they own you. Personally I feel unions have no business in trucking, nor education.
I still stand by my last post, that I dont believe many will shut down with the economy the way it is. Especially, since it is a job, no matter how bad you all perceive it to be. Besides, many cannot afford to not have a job.RickG Thanks this. -
If you want to talk about what good striking and organizing will do tell us about the starting wage for UAW workers today compared to 10 years ago.
