    I was wondering if there were ever any 387 or 587 day cab or sleeper cab tractors built with 15K-16K lb. steer axles? If so, what manufacturer and model number axle is used?

    Not that I am aware of. The 587 is available with Dana Spicer axles in a 12K (E1202I), 13.2K (E1322I), and 14.6K (E1462I). The new model 567 which starts production in the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] qtr. Will be available with axle rating up to 20K.

    How do you override the shutdown on a peterbilt 386? It keeps shutting down every 5 min. I need it to idle all night. Please help...

    Just to clarify, EBS stands for electronic braking system and is the foundation system for how the brakes system is operated. Big trucks currently use a air foundation brake system to operate the brakes and most automobiles use a hydraulic foundation brake system. To my knowledge, there is no planned transition from air brakes to an electronic brake system on class 8 trucks.

    ABS stands for anti-lock braking system. This system keeps the brakes from locking up (skidding) when you have to depress the brake pedal hard, say to avoid a collision. ABS brakes are used with air, hydraulic, and electronic foundation brakes.

    It will need to be hooked up to the computer in order to shut-down the idle timer. Can’t be done manually.

    We did hear from PACCAR that the electronic braking system may go on the 210/220 models in the future. The current medium duty 330/337/348 & class 8 models do not appear headed to electronic braking systems, but will stay with ABS that will be refined & improved. This appears to be something mostly used in Europe.
