You go with a trainer. What else do you need to know

I spoke with a recruiter yesterday, she told me 2 things that were important. Your school had to be at least 160 hours, and you went on the road with a trainer for at least 21 days after being hired.

our training program a similar to anyone elses. you right around with a guy for a few weeks he shows you our system of doing things how to secure some loads how to tarp some loads basically you'll be doing the majority of the work and driving and then you get your own truck

Noggin, if I choose to go to Melton after I finish school and I drop your name do you get a bonus? Or is that only for experienced drivers?

    It's for everyone...

You say you've already spoke to a recruiter.... anything you want to ask me? Since your recruiter has probably never seen the inside of a truck?

I did an online chat with the recruiter. My biggest concern was if Denver was in the hiring area (I know TMC and Maverick wont hire from there). I am currently just outside of Dallas and we are trying to move to Denver. Once there I will get into a school. Melton sounds like one of the top FB companies from the research I have done. I see a lot of the trucks are running the autos (not sure how I feel about that, my only experience driving was a Peterbilt with an 18 speed) I would hate to come in fresh out of school and be given an automatic and lose the feel for a standard transmission. But I can see how the auto would be nice, especially on big hills or in nightmare traffic... I am also not sure how I feel about cameras in my face. I have read a few threads that you wrote in and see that the mileage is all over the place. But it looks like if you bust your ### and stay out then you get some good home time. I have 16 years military service so I am used to being away from home for long stretches, I have seen plenty of the world but this career would give me the opportunity to see a lot of my own country. It honestly seems like the perfect fit.

we really hire out of the pueblo area but if I recall we just had a guy from Denver get hired so you should be fine with that. you may just have to stay out a few weeks extra before going home but since you don't mind doing that it obviously won't be a problem. as for the cameras they aer really only putting them in trainers trucks or problem drivers people with tickets or incidents, stuff like that. you are 95 percent sure of getting a 10 speed as most of our automatics have been phased out. he does however buy approximately 50 with each batch of trucks so there is still a chance just small

Thanks a lot. I will keep you updated for sure. If Denver does not happen within the next couple of months I will get into a course here. (Trying to find one my VA benefits will pay for) Once I am ready to apply I will get your info so I can get you the referral

Look into jucos. VA should cover college courses, and you'll get great training. It's usually cheaper too.

Just stay away from C-1 in FtW lol
