Man I'm laughing my self to death over here with all the terms you guys come up with. "Bottom feeder" "slave driver" "masters". I mean come on. What I'm getting out of this is if a company hires in a new driver they are one of these things. Or if they don't pay what you think they should. Or if their trucks don't run as fast as you want. Etc ad infinitum.
Every single company in this country, from the big "megas" to the small mom and pop company, can and probably at one point had fit each of these terms. Each and every company is what you make of it, just like any other job out there. Will people complain? Sure. Will some love the company? Sure. There is no such thing as a perfect company. Not even as a o/o.

In other words, take every thing you hear or read about a company with a grain of salt be it good or bad. For every complaint there will be praise. For every praise there will be a complaint. Look at all sides of the story. Talk to multiple people then make your own choice. Don't judge a company by what someone else thinks, be your own person and make your own decisions and judgements.

To 'gentleroger' and anyone else who doesn't feel like this was a "Bait And Switch" by Schneider....you are delusional.
It happens all the time with large carriers, and will continue to happen until the end of time.

In my area, Schneider (whom holds orientation in Green Bay, WI. 322 miles), and JB Hunt (whom holds orientation in Chicago, IL. 268 miles), and KB Transportation (whom hold orientation in S. Sioux City, NE. 219 miles); advertise relentlessly, and obnoxiously for local, and dedicated jobs---then when you leave your current employer based on promise and expectation by these companies, to attend orientation...all of the sudden, then positions "have been filled" and "would you mind driving over the road until another position pops up".

Not only do I know first hand...I also have friends that know all too well.

How this malicious activity affects peoples lives and livelihoods:

1). You leave your current employer for what you feel is greener pastures...possibly burning bridges.
2). You waste your time, and your money, and your sanity to get to orientation.
3). In most cases, you go all the way through orientation before they spring the news on you that the job you are there to do does not exist for you.
4). You return home, usually on your own dime, with no pay for orientation, with a minimum of one week lost in work, hoping to God your previous employer will forgive you and give you your job back.
5). If your previous employer don't except you back...you spend a minimum of atleast one more week seeking a job you probably don't want, but now HAVE to accept because your bank account and fridge are both empty.

To those of you whom have not yet fallen victim to this disgusting behavior by these heartless companies---God Bless You---but don't sit back and think that it doesn't happen just because it hasn't happened to you.

I don't doubt that company's use "Bait and switch" but from what I read the OP failed the PWS for the bulk division. They could have sent him packing but they extended an offer to pull vans. Can't really say if they'd had pulled that crap if he'd passed the PWS. At least he found a job and he seems pretty happy now.
