Now that you have been with National Carriers for a month or so, are they still treating you right? Was your initial contact with them a sign of the type of company/people that they truly are? Or was it more of a England/Schneider type of a wolf in sheep's clothing? I am in So Cal but wouldn't mind relocating in the Fort Worth area. I hope it worked out for the best. Sometimes things happen for a reason. Know what I mean?

I thought it was the standard to give the physical test when you report in......
-
it's not just Schneider that does that. it's called a physical aptitude test to make sure you are physically qualified to do a job involving a lot of activity. we have that in the flatbed world and EVERY company has made me do it. the physical they made you take in Florida is standard of any company and is part of pre qualifying before they spend money to bring you out to orientation. you say you have 2 years, you should know by now that's standard procedure from any company. not to say that it was wrong how they treated you, i'm simply saying Schneider is no different from werner, swift, Roehl etc...
-
That is what Schneider did wrong. They did little pre screening. Its a corporate culture at these megacarriers to treat drivers like easily replaceable pieces of meat.

Well said!
And; it is virtually impossible for them to not know how much grief and trouble they put drivers through with this behavior...so you can be safe to assume they don't care. Despicable! -
You are so right!! This industry is full of these loudmouths, monday morning quarterbacks who have nothing better to do than pick on somebody to boost their own ego. Well said.

The OP has presented a well written and logical account. Why criticise? Trucking companies are never to be trusted. They can take the most straight forward situation and twist it 7 ways from sunday so it works to their advantage. Ex:- Crete advertise all kinds of regional driving jobs, try getting one! They will promise you anything you like - so as to get you miles from home and in their office. Then they work on you to get you to do what they actually wanted all along and the regional job is was and shall ever be just a myth. bait and switch.
I don't blame them specifically it is just an example. They are all like it. They give the appearance of being upstanding and trustworthy with slogans and clever advertising then only later reveal that they are wolves in sheeps clothing.
Excellents posts both of you.Last edited by a moderator: Jul 27, 2013

So, what was the heartbeat test? What did they make you do and for how long?
Thanks -
From what I have seen and experienced, National has kept to their words concerning what they told me before orientation. Truth be told, they arent the BEST paying company, (and there are things I see that I dont agree with), but that is industry norm and so far I am happy.
They have a local yard in Brawley, CA so that might be right up your alley. (Beef haulers doing local runs home nightly).
I wont say I am planning on being with National Carriers LONG TERM, but I could have landed in with a MUCH WORSE company.
Hope this helps.
If you do talk to them, please tell them you talked to me "Robert Wilson" truck 4350. (referral bonus and what not)... -
basic stuff.... but the thing is... (and what I left out of the Original post) is that when they put the pulse reader on my finger inbetween tests, it read 157, not 167. They stopped it though I didnt actually go higher like they said I did. If I posted that in the first post it would have looked like I was making #### up....
