CAO, some ideas to help you, get experience to where you're comfortable getting yourself out of hairy situations.

an example of a hairy situation in the bakken:
    1. Your trailer slides perpendicular into a ditch but your tracker is still on the road. This happened to me, and I called my company, and they said "get yourself out of your own mess"
it took me two hours and chaining up to get it straight. These are the things that good have to deal with in the bakken. You're in far, remote North Dakota land and you will be abandoned for hours, be prepared for something like that.
    2. Your boss will want you to run 20, 21, + hours straight.....yet your freaking exhausted, but if you say you're tired, you're reprimanded by getting less hours and sitting in the trailer.....

i don't want to quash your hopes, but in the bakken you won't have the rules and regs that protect the otr drivers

lol some of the things people say..lol

average driving jobs have never paid 30 an hour here. not saying there arn't jobs that do but not your normal driving jobs. on jobs that pay w-2 and time and a half

yeah you used to run 20+ hour shifts but you were waiting in lines all the time taking naps in that time it used to be you could stay on the clock for weeks on end like that. yeah it wore on you after a while but if you arn't here to put hours in and make money don't come to work in the oilfeilds.

these days there are much less of the long shifts. most jobs any more are setup on 12 hour shifts you will likley get more hours than that depending on where you work, 14 maybe on occasion a little more.

as far as no laws to protect the driver like otr. the laws are still there unless you never touch a public roadway witch you will every day. the difference is most company's out here are outlaw. though even that is changing company's get dot audits fined tons of money and they start following hours of service laws.

6 figures as a company driver is posible not just for a o/o but to make that you have to have experience under your belt and work hard and not ##### about working too hard.

if you ##### about working to hard so they give you less hours isn't that what you asked for?

no experiance expect to start in the 18-20 range if you start at less than 20 make sure they offer a raise to at least 20 within the first 90 days or don't work for them in the first place. 25 is common once you have some experience. for jobs paying time and a half after 40

if you go to work for a o/o you will probably be paid on a percentage 25% is typical with some experience this should work out to around 30 +/- an hour depending on who they are working for and what the rate is. be sure to ask. but remember in this there is no time and a half after 40 on percentage. so your wage has to come out somewhere between what you would make on time and a half and regular time working for a company that pays o-t to be a fair wage

Is not just Afghanistan for this kinda work. I have a uncle who worked in Marshall Island easily making 6 figures and a family friend who also worked there then double that salary working in Russia. I always wonder how people find these kind of jobs :biggrin_25519:
