Hello to all! I am new into the trucking industry, I am still in school. I am so excited, but scared as well. Currently I am a school bus driver and the pay is just not cutting it to live on, luckily I have a pension coming in each month from a state job I retired out of, it was hazardous duty so therefore I can collect it as soon as I retire, I do not have to wait to be in my 60's.
i am married, but my husband will be staying home as he is studying to get into the medical field. We live in Connecticut, but our plans are to move into the Highpoint, NC area in the next couple of years. Love CT., but the taxes are way too high!

Good luck and just remember, trucking is a career, not a job,...Don't 'short=change' yourself along the way, take your time, and learn all that you can.

Welcome to trucking! Stick with it for at least 6 months to decide if you really like it or not. If you like driving the truck but you can't stand the solitude, the stress, the hardship of living inside of a truck for weeks at a time, the changes to your sleeping and eating patterns, the unhealthy conditions, all the regulations and challenges and the rude treatment that you may get sometimes among other hassles, but you like to drive the truck, then stick with it for 6 more months and find a local job that is more convenient to you and will allow you to be with your husband and family and friends. Many folks I know just can't adapt to the trucking "life style", living on the road constantly all by yourself and enduring all this hardship just for a paycheck... :biggrin_25512:
