I'm glad I intimidate you. I'll keep posting just because I know you're intimidated by a driver who has a clean record, and actually treats this job like a profession instead of just wining all the time.

BRAKE CHECK = brake check with safe drivers BRAKE CHECK = mark in log book with others a person has to decide what they want to be but you did do right thing using runaway ramp

Simple-you must have been in too high a gear for the hill, your brakes got too hot to grab and that was it. You should be in about 2 gears lower when you run those kind of mountains even though they say a gear lower than the one you climbed in. Go down 3rd or 4th with 40,000 and don't worry who passes you for going slow. As soon as you feel any spongy feeling you need to get over and cool he brakes for as long as it takes (maybe hours) and gear-down even more when your proceed.

After just reading these forums I've come to the conclusion that most of the drivers here are actually professors hiding behind big bellies. Cause lord knows they don't lack for opinions. But ill be the first to admit. Sometimes S@@@ just happens. Once many years ago I was loaded "Pepsi ". Driving in the snow which happens a lot here in md. Coming up very slow to a traffic light. Didn't feel a thing. Look out the window and here comes my trailer. 40k pounds trying to pass me. Wasn't going fast, jake wasn't on, didn't let off the throttle too quick, wasn't in to low a gear. Sometimes unexpected things just do happen. There's no fault or explanation. Wish I could say I jerked it in gear turned the wheel hard right and pulled it outta the slide like most of the professional drivers on here would. But in reality when it happens you just say " HOLY SHIzzat.

The run away ramp was a good move; I have been through Wolf Creek myself a time or 2, and if I lost my brakes and the Jakes were not working either-I'd catch that run away ramp too.
I feel that you did the right thing.

Even with a pre trip inspection. and a brake adjustment session (provided you know how to adjust your brakes) you can still loose your brakes and Wolf Creek pass is as good of a pass ro loose them on as any other. #### Happens. At least you walked away from it by making the right choice.
