Welcome to the thread! Your input is quite welcome.

I've been at Poly since November '11 and feel the same as you. Nice to be treated as a person; not just a steering wheel holder. Pay ain't bad either.

I really do appreciate it. It has been difficult to find a active truckinh forum. Yet along the patience to sit and talk to fellow drivers when I'm on the yard. I'm usually in s hurry to either get on the road or to get home when I'm there. Lol.

Howdy all...Well , I wasn't in Pueblo long , got the water cooler replaced and was head'n to Parachute Co by Thursday morning , the 18th , delver'd Houston TX on the 22nd 900diff" denied" , no power. Tried to get a long one toward Henderson out of Poltex but ended up w/a G.p. load. Put a request in for something toward the house , for the Tuesday's board 7/23 , and called them Tuesday while on a gate pass to see if I was gonna get out Wed. Left msg , he returned my call a few min's later with a Taylor PA load that delvr's 7/29 0730. He set up to load Tues and it was loaded by like 1900 , but having been up all day , I didn't get real far starting out about 2045 Tues night. Got home by noon on Thurs had fri and sat off , got rollin 10am yesterday to make it here for the appt. Been mty since 10 to 10 EST today , sent off a couple msg's and will call him soon. The very good thing about poly is the limited sit around time when its busy so it seems.
Having came in , in Feb when it was slow , its obvious you learn quickly to get on the board for another load ASAP , during the slow times. The backhaul out of Parachute was the pick me up on the breakdown on the 16th , I told him I'd be ready at 0800 Thurs and he called to verify truck was fixed at about 3 min's after 8 , he then had my load info 40 min's later. Not bad

That last slow time was a killer. Very unusual. Does anyone know the story on that. I heard we was trying to get a contract and failed?

If my memory serves me which it probably doesn't , I recall someone , not sure who on this board about 6 months ago saying there was anticipation of the Home Depot deal , and then it didn't happen , hopefully they're still working it ! I picked up on that it was part of the hiring spree that helped get me in.
Same time frame anyway. I better call them , they still haven't gotten back to me . TTYL

Well I guess that was painless , so to speak it took all but a min flat to find out he just doesn't have anything for me yet. A rare occasion waiting on backhaul , it happens I guess , I haven't waited for a while so I guess I'll just suck it up !

Yeah that is a rare site.. I don't like that guy with the L name in backhaul much. Every time he calls me tries to give the least amount of info. Which all I want to know from is the when and wheres. Ill call the broker for specifics . But its like pulling teeth with him.

I've wondered what the deal is with him myself. He acts like he doesn't want to give out any of the information about the when and where on my loads either. I told him the last time that having at least the pick up time and place can really help me sometimes. I told him just knowing when and where the pick up is can save me a ton of steps until I get a better time and place to call the broker and so on. I also wish they would leave info on my voicemail when they call and get it. No telling how much that can help sometimes. They do a pretty good job of most everything so I don 't say much about it. Seems each person I've talked to from back haul does the job a little different. No big deal at the end of the day I guess. Been staying moving just fine lately. :)

I'll be on the GP yard this evening, then deliver in Dallas tomorrow morning before taking the rest of Tuesday off. My wife is driving up from SA so we can attend the Rangers game Tuesday night. Looking forward to a nine inning vacation.

As to slow outbound freight, I've seen three times in the year & a half I've been here. Just have to remember the big picture. Then it's not so bad.
