Hello all,
Well I am sorta new to the trucking industry, definitely new to working behind the wheel. Back in '03 I worked for two years as a diesel mechanic at a Peterbilt dealership. I have been fascinated with the big rigs ever since. I have not had an opportunity until recently to finally pursue this amazing life-changing career. I graduated with an associates in drafting and had a knack for working with 3D models. Got a job at a local firm and have worked there for over a year now. I completely turned their firm around from working in basic AutoCAD to tackling the Building Information Modeling approach. I also saved them thousands by custom building new computer systems in house. After all that I am still getting paid less than I was working at the movie theatre, and after exhaustive negotiations, have decided that dealing with office politics is just not for me. I love the open road and I have only seen very little of this great country. I have been researching and I think I am going to attend Swifts training academy and work for them for a couple of years to get some experience. From there, who knows. I have been following several threads on this forum, trying to get a feel for the industry, and from what I have read so far I am extremely optimistic. I look forward to learning more from you guyz and eventually start sharing my own story as well.
