Rupe, apparently you haven't even started driving yet. How could you even think you know where these two guys are coming from when you haven't even been to orientation yet? I started with Millis a while back. I'm not there anymore. Anyways, my first trainer came to pick me up at the closest truck stop to me. When we got rolling, he was driving. We weren't even out on the road when he starts tellling me that the only way you'll make money is to run two log books. I told him I want to learn to drive first. So for the next 4 days I never touched the wheel. We delivered in Georgia and when empty, he says back in that hole. Well I start backing and I realize if i keep backing, I'm going to hit both trailers on either side of me because they are backed in on an angle. I stop and tell him that if I keep going, I'm going to hit these trailers. Meanwhile, he's supposed to be out in front of me watching me back in. Instead, hes sitting in the passenger seat talking on his cell phone and telling me keep going, you're going to miss them. well, I hit both at the same time and he immediately hung up and called the main office to report " my accident" telling them didn't listen and I was careless. 4 days and this was the first I was behind the wheel and it was my fault and the company believed what he said because when they checked my logs, they showed I had driven almost the whole 4 days I was eligible to drive and should have known better. But I never was behind the wheel until that point. He covered his ### and put the blame on me because he wasn't doing his job and the company believed him and would not even listen to me. So you keep on believing that all is fine and you will never be in that situation. And I hope you never are. But DO NOT COUNT ON MANAGEMENT TO BACK YOU UP!!! And if you are counting on safety bonuses and idling bonuses, good luck with collecting that.

Safety bonuses are VERY easy to get as long as you don't screw up. Idle bonuses are also very easy to get. Millis let's you choose if you want to idle or not, they don't complain if you do but they'll pay you a small bonus if you don't.

As far as your accident with the trailers, crap happens BUT every single instructor at any millis school or any school for that matter will tell you over and over to Get Out And Look, GOAL, it's even printed on our mirrors. I agree your trainer screwed you on driving and falsifying logs BUT once you're behind the wheel it's your responsibility to GOAL. that accident could've been easily avoided.

And that's when I would have called safety and requested a new trainer.

You missed the point of the post. I know what goal stands for. I could see it plain as day in the mirrors that it was going to happen so he was told by me that I was going to hit the trailers but he insisted I continue to go back. And he was supposed to be OUTSIDE the truck watching instead of in the passenger seat talking on the phone. And yes, it could have been avoided. But when they say back up, you back up.

As for idle bonuses, my dispatcher ( the above mentioned Bruce ) called me on my cell one day and told me I need to cut down my idle time or they were going to take it out of his pay. LOL!!! I Never did get any bonuses for idle time even after they put the bunk heater in. And I never received a safety bonus despite being accident and incident free for the 14 months I stayed there.

I have not noticed any changes in the 17 mo. I have been here, Always receive my safty bonus, Home every Friday.
Miles have been a little down lately, but with this latest raise I'M averaging 43cpm. a few more months and another raise and my schooling and hotel drop off and that'll feel like another raise.
My only complaint is the t700 they gave me, after trading in my t660

No changes at all? I don't remember having cameras in our trucks when I started that our safety man watches your every move constantly.

No safety bonus? Did you call and try and find out why? If yes, what did they say? If no, then you have no real reason to complain...

I agree with shady 100%. I don't know where all these changes are that people are talking about. Not one thing is different in my world. Most the people complaining on here have barely been here a year and you act like Millis has done a complete 180. Totally not the case. If you don't agree with the companies policies and rules then move on or buy a truck and put your own name on the side of it and make your own rules. Absolutely ridiculous. I've never once been lied to about anything. Have ALWAYS recieved my safety bonus. I don't have anyone looking over my shoulder at anytime. They give me my loads and I deliver them on time and safely. I just love it how people who have only been with a company a very short period of time and think they have all the solutions to what's going on. Millis has been around for over 70 years. I'm sure they will still be around long after you all and myself are long gone.
