Like I've said MANY times on here, if Millis is a good fit for you than GREAT stay where you are. If they are not what your looking for then move on. You like them, congrats... I want more exercise, more pay, more hometime. All them things are VERY easily achieved by switching companies. -
I am not looking and wish 12 years ago I started with Millis. Making best money I ever had and a lot easier to do it. Safety and Idle bonus paid as promised, home time when requested. Any changes they may make are industry wide and as a result of rising costs and insurance requirements. I talk to drivers with other major carriers and having issues with miles down which on average not a issue here. All comes down to what u make of it.
Harleys4Life Thanks this. -
been at millis going on yr 2 still happy everything I was told has been true have received my bonus when it was deserved I take loads and del on time when possible when not possible I let them know home time has always been on time or early with one exception and that was mostly my decision was asked to do something extra befor I went home did it still consistently get 3k plus a week

If my trainer told me to do something that was wrong, unsafe, illegal, or anything different than what I could already see is wrong, I would refuse and call safety immediately And take pictures as to what he was doing (being on the phone and not paying attention) and offered to send them to safety whoever it concerns. I would have asked for a different trainer because obviously he didn't care. Companies want this feed back usually. You don't just back up because they say so. I would have stopped the truck, pulled up, got out to look myself, and made a phone call if necessary. I guess your gonna say I don't know what I'm talking about now and that's ok. I'm pretty sure alot of people on here will back me up. Not trying to be a know it all, just saying. I believe you still have control when your behind the wheel even in training.sapamil and indianaEMT Thank this. -
I passed my interview, driving test, physical, and drug test today. Millis did not put anything on my DAC report or at least they havent yet. So next monday i am turning in my notice. Then i start at my new company on the 14th. I will still be running regional and my new house is only 7 miles from the terminal.
I am happy with the training i received at millis and have still referred a couple drivers to their school. It is a good company to start with. I in no way wanted to stay there more than a year or so. I wish them luck in the future but i am not sure as to how much of a future they will have. I think the bigger they get the less of a family atmosphere they seem to convey.Last edited: Jul 29, 2013

Brainwashed? Not here, I'm thinking you were the one who defended his choice of taking per diem to get ONE extra week of vacation (brainwashed)while giving up an extra $3.000 a year, stating why give the government a tax free loan. So you just gave Millis a gift of $3.000.
After one year experience you'll probably be making a lateral move some old ####, after two years is when you can secure a definite upgrade in a job.
Good luck and I truly hope you get a great job

Will do sap. and slim almost all companies take on people with at least a year of exp. The company i am going to i will be making about double what i make at millis doing the same thing. And i am glad i took the per diem because i needed to have the extra vacation time. that time to me is worth way way more than $3000. I would have had to pay way more than that to have someone do the repairs to my house that i have been able to do on my extra vacation week. And yes the money that i would have given the government to hold on to for me is now worth way more in an investment account. So you can keep your end of the year money that is way less than you could have had if you would invest the money. I like more money in my paychecks so that i can do with it whatever i want. I am not going to get into a financial debate with you. I changed my post because i knew someone would have some opinion on what i said.
slim shady Thanks this. -
Ahh the loving family of Millis drivers.
Congrats Samurai on the job and hope you do well. I checked them out but I'm wanting to stay with flatbed.
