percentage pay

    Im switching over from mileage pay to percentage and im just curious as to how much more i could expect to gross each week, i know this hard to answer becsuse it depends on what kinda of rate my carrier gets, i will get 72% of gross plus 100% fsc, pulling a van. I was running for .95cmp plus fsc. I need to gross around $4k before fuel and was just wondering what some of you were grossing? Thanks

    Just as an example on a rate+FSC model vs. a percentage model (Unless you are pulling THEIR trailer, 72% is robbery... pulling your own, it would be outright theft.. normally, pulling a company trailer, THEY pay the cargo and liability insurance a give 80% of the linehaul... but I digress);

    On a 3000 mile week average rate of $2.00 per mile (low, but good for comparison purposes):

    $6000 x .72 = $4320 assuming 6 mpg and $4 p/gal your net is $2320

    3000 miles x 1.41 per mile (.95 + .46 FSC) = $ 4230 less $2000 fuel; net $2230

    So, from THAT example, you're only getting about $100 more per week... that's $5k a year, but, seriously, look for a better deal... 72% of the linehaul is ridiculous... if you have your own trailer, you should get 88-90%, using a company trailer, 80% IF they carry the cargo and liability, otherwise, 85%...

    With MY M/C, you'll get 90%... using the same numbers as above:

    $6000 linehaul x .90 = $5400 less fuel ($2k), less insurance (200 p/wk FULL coverage about 50 less if you want just cargo and liability); net $3200... $880 better than above... x 50 weeks = $40k per year... assuming you take a 2 week vacation in there somewhere...

    Find yourself a better deal, driver... ya owe it to yourself.

    This will be pulling their trailer at no cost i only pay for my physical damage and bobtail insurance. Heck i thought i was going to do better, sounds like i need to stay at .95cpm

    Non force dispatch running southeast and home on weekends, i looked on LS website that they pay 65% for tractor only so i guess 72% is in line with other carriers. Thanks for the responses.

    In line with carriers that want to scr8w you...
    I get 82%. No trailer rental fee or maintenence. Thay pay primary liability and cargo.
    I stopped caring about gross or miles that much. If I net 300 a day driving 200 miles like today thats good enough.
    With your own trailer one can ask 90 even 92 % but most likely will have to pay all insur. costs yourself, it depends

    NO, you dont. You need to find a co who ll book loads with average over 2 $ per running mile, so that after their commission (LETS SAY 12%) you are rolling at 1.8 or better per odometer mile paid to the truck-your gross. Any less than that and it starts to defeat the purpose of being O/O
