Millis chat room

Actually my student knew nothing about me even looking for a job until I put in my two weeks. I told him this. I QUOTE "Millis is a great company, many doors are going to open up once you get a year in. If millis is a good fit for you great, if you find another offer fits you better then that's fine too" that's all I've EVER said to my student about my feelings towards millis.

 

Samurai if you were unhappy with your dispatcher did you consider requesting a transfer to a different one?

 

What defines an experienced driver?

 

I dont think anyone else runs regional out of trenton. i dont mind him but i think something happened to him either at work or his personal life. I can tell things have changed for him. It still wouldnt help me in my current situation. I basically either had to go back OTR or find a new place to work so i chose the latter. I dont mind OTR but my wife does. and especially in a strange new place i wouldnt want her there for weeks at a time alone.

As for myself and indy. we are the only ones talking about leaving because the other guys already left aka L.B. and Mojopotatoe etc...
I also am not saying Millis is bad. I am just saying it isnt the same as a year ago. everyone is getting way too upset about things posted on this forum. Every company has good and bad things. even swift and werner. but at the same time Millis is a starter company the same as swift, pam, cr england, etc. That is not saying it is bad. I think they are way better than those other companies which is why i came here in the first place. The thing that really caught my eye was the trucks. I loved how shinny and new they all looked. And Millis still and always will have a nice fleet. I also think the bigger the company gets the less personal it is. And this is a negative for me. Some people may like just being a number. I would rather know the people i work for on a more personal level. The company i am going to work for is smaller and i have already met the owner and the family. they have made me feel like part of the family. Which is another reason i have signed on with them. plus the fact that if i ever dont want to drive trucks they hire inside the company first.

Millis is a great company. Are there better Yes. Are there worse HELL YES. I think everyone should start at millis. They have a great training program minus a couple of bad stories i have heard which have since been taken care of. Yes they are getting a little crazy with the safety things but that isnt a bad thing. I wish you all luck out there. And maybe i will see a few of you next week if they let me work my last week.

 

Ah ok. Yeah I guess it really doesn't make sense to keep it up since things have changed with your home life. I wouldn't want to do that to my girlfriend either. What I find hilarious is how two guy basically post some complaints and that they are looking to go somewhere else and everyone dogpiles them and pretty much want them run out of town. God forbid they can't have an opinion? Neither guy blasted Millis just said they weren't happy and were moving on and everyone but Mike Millis himself seems to be coming out of the woodwork blaming those guys for their misfortunes. You don't need a lot of expereince in this business to know that because the majority is happy doesn't mean everyone is. And just because some have problems doesn't mean they are negative or troublemakers. I've had my share of crappy dispatchers in my limited 2 years and I moved on to greener pastures. No biggee, now I never worked at Millis, thought about it when I was going to get my cdl, still have the upmost respect but honestly since Baritone and some of the other guys that started posting here when I was starting out aren't posting anymore I just read the thread to see what's up.

Take it easy guys, Just cause you like it and they don't, don't mean they are wrong or you are right. To each their own and instead of this Millis civil war just go back to posting the norm. You have people looking to this company and crap like this isn't going to make them want to come here.

 

Good call my man. Yeah we are 2 of 800 people that drive for millis. Someone once said "you can please some of the people some of the time, but you cant please all of the people all of the time." Everyone's experience is going to be different because everyone IS different. Lets just go back to posting nice stuff again and go on with our lives.

Sorry, thought I would create a distraction from this. So, how is everybody. Me, oh, just peachy. Wished I had taken my invite with the company back in May. Oh well, we live and learn. After all this, I still like the company and would still only consider this company. Or maybe Swift......nahhhh.

 

Also meanwhile... should i hire a realtor to sell my house or do it myself?
