Is there ASSISTANCE for our DRIVERS when:

  1. Calling in your spouse and then telling him about his Parent was thoughtful and wise of the Dispatch.
Being your spouse was with his TRUCK (and it is like family) and amongst his friends that was good to.
Offering the plane ticket was good, he was put back to work and came home , keeping busy helps!

I am hoping that your spouse is doing ok and that he is fortunate to have you for support, this is good!

I am talking about a "Intervention on the Road" if needed.
uggggggg!:biggrin_25512:With the "Lifeworks" ph # and their Web site , that's all I could do was to give the folks that asked me for help, that info.:biggrin_25511:

  3. I gave the folks that had contacted me the Lifeworks ph # and there Web site.

    They are planning an Intervention.

I hope and pray that it works for all involved.

In my past I have seen lots of family and friends die young, because of lack of carring .
So when I am approached with this (not very often) it makes me sick to my stomach, and I consider myself pretty friggn tough at most stuff, but I am not qualified to help in that matter.

Sometimes saying the wrong thing or think that you are doing the right thing could get you killed.

  4. A program designed for the Truckers SAFETY , first and formost!

When an accident happens , the driver should be pulled out of the truck and put on solid ground, for starters. It takes its toll on a driver.
Depending on how serious the accident.

Sometimes Someone Else has to come in and show you that cup of coffee and to stop and smell the roses for a moment.

Thats all it takes is one wrong moment.

Immediatly the office , the disaptch all ,involved to the path way of the accident are brought to the front row and questions and answers are needed.

Something went wrong, so fix it.

EVERY BODY just GEAR DOWN for starters.

    These are some thoughts:biggrin_25526:

Speaking from experience: I was a Report Driver for a Transit Comp. Union / OSHA .
I was into my 8th week, 13 hour days, 6 days a week , winter time , small bus 24 passengers, big bus 48 passengers and special trans/wheel chair.

I was pulling out of a private home in the Sp Trans Bus and my left side of my bus (rear end ) hit a curb , with bushes sticking out, I rear view mirrored it and saw nothing of question. Kept driving.
Dropt my passenger off at their destination and headed back to the terminal to get on a big bus.

Pulled into the wash rack and stopped, started to do a walk around and found a large punctured hole in my rear left hub.

    OK! Isn't this lovley.

Went into the office and all he** broke loose, needless to say , they still put me on a big bus and I was back out on the street in 20 minutes for another 4 hrs.

I had a day of classroom training and Physo babble (it reminded me of the Charlie Brown and Lucy) at one point in films when the Big boss walked into the class room and turned on the lites, I had fallen asleep in my chair for (must have been 15 minutes).

I had to have a day off , but I had a interesting talk with my supervisor and the Big Boss.

I had several of the senior driver's step up to the plate before they rulled any infractions on me.
    They said:
You have this report driver pulling the shifts of 2 drivers along with the other report driver. You never HEAR her on the radio, only when there is a transfer needed for the next route if she is running down on time.
Her record with the public is ok, no problems and she does her job.
So you want to hang her , think again.

They now have ride arounds , folks that hop on board and are like a gaurdian angel, check n in on ya to see if your fatigued , or something outside the stresses of your job (personal) are interfering with your job and "WHEN" some out of the bus or rig "TIME" is needed, you get it , right now. NO drama, just a take five to make for a BETTER DAY.
