Good Company, Good benefits. But be prepared to work the dock for the next three to six months . Like any other LTL company, you will have to start out on the dock. Just stick it out thru the bad times, (and you will have bad days).

our terminal we have bids that work the dock and those that don't, road drivers start off at the extra board, fills in when needed on schedules, runs extra freight, not sure about everything the city board does, but as far as the pay and benefits very good

I'm parttime on the dock. Started in August, came over from 12 years at Yellow. Does anyone know what the pay goes to when you clock over to jockey? I've asked everyone steward and the supervisor and the hall and the hall president and no one knows for sure.

I believe UPS Stockton is hiring van drivers. They start you driving after orientation and a couple days on the road with a trainer. These drivers mostly work nights and home every day. Although there are some loads that go to Utah, and Grants Pass.

    How did the interview go?
I also have an interview with UPS freight coming up, any advice? Should I go for the full suit or something more dialed down? My first interview for trucking was over the phone.

does anyone know how UPSF road drivers are? Im thinking of applying. I really like YRC and do not want to leave, but the UPSF terminal is closer to where I grew up and where my friends are. I dont mind running extra or working weekends as I would move back home and wouldnt be desperate for money right away. Right now im 70 miles away from everyone and just want to return home. The terminal I would be applying for is a small terminal, not a bulk break

They make lots of money. Should be around .70 cents a mile now with a 70mph truck. Paid for everything else they do. I wouldn't put them on the back burner unless they mentioned dock time. I've been ltl about 10 years now and might have a hour dock time and that's volunteer dock time. You don't start on the dock unless that's all they have available

If dock work is in the description, I don't care how much they pay. I knew a guy that was in upper management at UPSF in Fontana, CA. He hated the job. Worked there for 9 years. Said he was there when they were still Overnight. He told me they treat everyone really bad and you have to constantly watch your back. He said drivers are nothing to them because there is a line of them trying to get hired. He said they even treat Management like crap. Said he was miserable there as well as several others. Now he works for ABF. Maybe other yards are different than Fontana or maybe he was just not on his game. He said he was much happier at ABF. Hard to know until you work there. I knew several unhappy van drivers at UPS when I worked for FedEx Express. They all would tell me "money and benefits aren't everything" I had to agree since I worked at FedEx Express, worst job ever!
