    I think it is because there is a lack of common sense tied with the idea that we should with no hesitation accept anyone who used or uses drugs as an upstanding citizen who can handle themselves with an 80,000 lb truck on the road. For some odd reason, this should be looked at as a profession, not as a hobby nor as just a job. If people want to use drugs and have just a job, McDonalds or any fast food place will hire them.

    I was picked for random testing on Monday. I had to blow into a breathalyzer and give a urine sample. I was told by my dispatch that I had to wait for the results of the urine test before I could return to duty. No worries. I could use a couple days off. Dispatch called me today for my Thursday assignment. My question is, is this a new DOT policy? I've never had to take a breathalyzer nor have I ever had to wait for results before returning to duty. Thanks

    This is were the problem lies...

    Let's say my wife and i were out to a nice party.We had a great time and a few drinks..Mind you this was a sunday night..I go into work and i get ''called in'' on a random.I go there and pee in the cup and do the breathe test...

    This is what happened to me at Landstar..Thank the good lord i was NOT DRINKING...But innocent people are getting tossed out of trucking because of this sad reality.They had a few drinks at a bar and they were unlucky and were called in..IT DOES HAPPEN...

    I was informed by Landstar that they have a 100% 0.00000 or you are all done...DOT allows i think 000.04..Landstar is 0 tolerence and we lost people because of an innocent few beers...

    The real tricky part is that there is no scientific evidence,how long this alcohol stays in ones system..Male,Female,what you drank,how much.how much you weigh etc etc..This is why there is no answer...

    I hate to say this but there is only one answer..PLAN YOUR PARTY...Party around your work scheduale..Make sure you have a couple days to dry up before back on duty...

    I don't drink at all. I got a copy of the breathalyzer result (.000) immediately. I'm just wondering if it is DOT policy to keep a driver out of the truck until his piss test comes back? This is the first time in all my years of being drug tested that I was told to "wait for a call". If it was a company policy I dont know why they just wouldn't tell me straight up.

    I'm thinking it's a company thing. I had to do a random and my company sent me back out the same day. I knew I was clean.

    Funny how you have such an attitude towards a simple question with your assumption that there is something wrong with asking it. I will have you know that your closed mind is simple and maybe you shouldn't be driving a truck for that simple reason either. I'm not trying to disrespect anyone here, but there are other reasons apparently unknown to small minded people that a person may have for asking such a question. I for one do not have any problems with taking any drug test but I do see many reasons why this question might be asked, and from personal experience as well. How about this one;

    There are a lot of females that drive trucks and who have crew cuts. They shave their under arms, and they do not have any chest, face or leg hair. Most companies require at least 1 1/2 inces of hair and their sample is a quarter size. How is that working for those like what I just mentioned? Just for the fact that a person wouldn't want to waste their time going through the complete process of everything all the way up to the drug test point just to either be considered as a fail, refusal or turned away being told to come back when they have some hair. STOP TRYING TO ASSUME THINGS YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!. If you do not know the answer just move on and let someone who does answer it for them. Keep the sarcasm to yourself because you are not any better than the next person. I happen to know a few people who have issues with the hair testing that have absolutely nothing at all to do with them doing drugs or being worried about failing it for that reason. Besides, what business is it of yours why they are asking the question they want to ask?. We all know why they constructed the word ASSume with those three letters at the beginning of it don't we?. Get a clue and stop being an As*...

    Usually they have a reason for taking that kind of action. Maybe you have had words with someone or maybe a 4 wheeler called your company with a complaint about your driving that caused them to test you AND make you wait for the results. Some companies have a system that selects their drivers randomly and they get tested that way and because it is random your name could be selected several times and the other guy may not ever get selected.
