My APU's alternator broke and when it broke it snapped the belt. Well i just replaced both the alternator and the belt and now the APU wont start. When I go to start the APU it makes like a loud buzzing noise and that is all it does. The APU is a carrier model and it sits on a 2009 International Prostar. Any helpful hints or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did the belt go to anything else? Water pump seize up when it broke? Will the new alt turn by hand? Could be defective.
DoneYourWay Thanks this. -
Yea the new one turns by hand and i dont know what all the belt is hooked up to. Even if it was the water pump it still wouldnt start and it would make that buzzing noise?

Perhaps it wasn't charging,
and needs to be jumped off.DoneYourWay Thanks this. -
If the water pump failed when the belt went, the engine could have sized up from over heat. Your not trying to start a motor that wont turn. If it were my apu, i would remove the starter and see if i can get it to run disconnected from the motor. Check with the manufacture, they can problay tell you what the buzz means. My guess is the starter cant turn because the motor doesn't want to turn.DoneYourWay Thanks this.

my TK tripac always buzzes before starting
no error codes on display panel?DoneYourWay Thanks this. -
No there are no error codes it just says STARTING then it just buzzes. When it was running it only buzzed for 3 seconds and then started up.

I'd check the ground connections. The starter and alternator may share a ground, which is often overlooked when replacing one or the other.

Carrier Dealer? Maybe they can figure it out.
