Ok, I have the school schedule and the what's and where's of what I will be doing if they hire me pretty well understood I think. One question I have is this: Right now I carry a class B license with tank, haz-mat and air brakes endorsements, so all I should need permit wise is the combination test, correct? I haven't seen doubles and triples mentioned in any of the Prime threads and this is why I ask.

General knowledge, Airbrake and Combination... but if you are there, why not get them all?
You never know when it might come in handy and except for hazmat, there all good for life. -
Did you read post? He has all that. Just take the combination test and drive test in tractor trailer

Yes, sure did... I was referring to Doubles & Triples (or "it" in my post) by omission, but thats a bad habit of mine.

The combination written will get the permit... but I don't think a drive test is required...

Not to highjack the thread! Prime? OK go for it! Don't get into their Flease they will own you the truck the trailer and everything you hold near and dear to your heart, Their Lease is a joke, there training process is running team, once you have figured out how to get it out of the fuel island to the highway the trainer is going to sleep and you are by yourself. He will wake up every now and again. I wish you luck.

Absolutely true! Completed training with them in early '08. I was the night driver. My trainer was trusting his life in my hands - a newb!!! Not much learnin goin on there except what I could figure out on my own. I got really tired drivin all night! John didn't want truck to stop. I'd be jumpin up and down in the seat, chewin sun flower seeds (his idea), head out the window. When I'd get especially tired I'd stop at rest stops and run as hard and as far as I could in the headlights and back. The benefit of that would last about 5 minutes! I remember once I was so tired that he peeked out from behind the curtain and asked me why the truck was going so slow and weaving.

That's when they were running trainees out to 80,000 miles. It's 40,000 now, and goes a lot quicker. Obviously your trainer wasn't doing the job. The guy I rode with made sure he was up and instructing whenever we came into a new situation.
After all... there is only so much you can harangue a trainee about driving down a straight stretch of interstate with little or no traffic on it. -
All you need is the combination test out of the way, get your permit, train and take a road test, that's it.
