We were lucky to get a new ice machine when the old one broke, I don't think chairs are a priority. -

That 4 wheeler obviously is a complete moron, but my question is why the hell did schneider take that turn so wide? You could fit a dump truck between his trailer and the curb before he cut across the nose of that 4 wheeler. Did he have his signal on? Did he not know where he was going and made the turn at the last second, leaving a huge gap for that dumb dumb to sneak up into?
Not that I want to be hard on the guy, but look at the wider shot from back and look how far to the left his trailer is. He has so much room in that turn lane, yet his ### is sticking into the left lane of traffic? I'm sorry but schneider is at least partially to blame here from what I'm looking at.
I always make sure to hug that curb as close as possible to make sure the morons are completely shut out. Even when it's not even necessary I always make my turns that way when no one is around for practice sake. That way when you really need to do it (like in this instance) it's just routine. Hopefully schneider driver will learn to set up his turns better now. -
That is really good advise to remember and it helps to prevent things like that. The way it looks though is that the guy did make a real wide turn but the way he was set up i dont imagine that he crossed the middle line but was close to it and so it should be the four wheelers fault but you will never know until you hear it from the horses mouth directly.

Well, look at it this way. The trailer will follow the tractors lead. The only way the overhang of the trailer (the part that behind the tandems) would ever be in the position that it's in now (it's sticking well into the left lane of traffic) is if the tractor was there first, then the trailer follows the same path. He obviously did one of two things. He set up his turn lined up well off of the curb taking up 25% of the left lane (improbable), or he did a totally unnecessary button hook turn (99.9999% chance this is what he did) where he briefly swung out into the left lane slightly, then the car zoomed into the opening real quickly as he began his turn. He had 3 lanes of traffic to turn into so this seems to me that this guy has a bad habit of doing unnecessary button hook turns. See, anyone can be an OSR

It does look like there is one of those stupid turn lane islands there as well, which probably is what prompted him to turn so widely. Even more reason not to button hook the turn though. Makes no sense to do a button hook when there's an island obstructing your left hand side. Your first worry when there's an island like that is to stay as far right as possible to avoid the island (that's the first thing you'd ever hit), then after you clear the island on your left then you have to worry about clearing the curb on your right.Last edited: Aug 4, 2013

Notice the yield sign through the turn. Wider shot reveals at the opposite side is a median type turn lane. I personally would button hook a bit to not ride the tires up on the curb to the right as much as possible. But still you need to go slow enough to maintain visuals on all sides throughout the maneuver.

Someone at SNI needs a geography lesson.
The board I am on switched from "intra-Ohio" regional to "mid-west" regional last week. The reason we were given was because just running Ohio for a few dedicated support customers like Chep, P&G and Wal-Mart was netting to many dead head miles. So, we were given a regional dedicated planner with the expectation that we would still keep our home time(I am off every weekend) and be runnin mid west as far out as Iowa and Missouri.
Well, here I sit, in NEW JERSEY at the south Kearny yard for a delivery in the AM 15 miles away. Then pick up in Jersey City and head to Kentucky. Now, I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but New Jersey isn't exactly Mid West. One of our driver got a load to Mass. We were told on our conference call that there may be an "occasional" run to the NE......I have talked to 5 drivers that were sent up here already.
If this keeps up.....I may have to start looking. -
I was going to ask why your in nj? I'm same boat south east regional but they send me every where.
