Looking for some info on the Sheetz tanker jobs, I know they contract it out to CLI transport. I've been with Fedex Express for 19 years and
am looking to make a career change. Just from word of mouth I hear I can walk into the sheetz tankers making 24 bones and hour which is what
I make after 19 years with Fedup. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I have a buddy that works for CLI out of their Neville Island (Pittsburgh) terminal and he likes it. He started there a few years ago at the wage you mentioned (time and a half after 40 hours) and works a 4 on, 2 off schedule. Apparently the benefit package is fairly impressive also. They operate some of the cleanest equipment you will ever see and it is the driver's responsibility to keep it that way. Also, the units run nearly 24 hours a day and you will share a truck with somebody - the guy I know starts at 5:00pm and his partner starts at 5:00am so the vehicle pretty much moves 24/7 (I'm betting other people run the unit during day's off). I want to say the tractor's are turned in every 3 years or so...also CLI transport is owned by Sheetz itself, they started that division for liability reasons (at least that's what was explained to me). About the only other thing worth mentioning is that the stores themselves are mostly nice with big parking lots to move around in (at least the one's I see). If you want to know anything else I can make a phone call for ya.

Thanks Pintlehook, Thats good info. Keeping the trucks clean would be my cup of tea for sure, I love a clean truck. The new truck every 3 years sounds good too. The only other thing if you could find out for me would be how much vacation time would you start with? This company sounds like the real deal, but Im guessing its not easy to get on with them. I'll keep you updated on my progress.

Good luck with Sheetz, keep us informed. They seem to be one of the better outfits out there.

Plus a lot of times the stores let trucks come in and shop (but not overnight of course) there.

It's nice to get lunch and some drinks and not see a "no truckers allowed" sign in the lot.

love sheetz and even buy my fuel from them when by one of their truckstops. they only have a few of the truckstops though. wish they would build more. their food is real good also. prefer their subs over subway and got good wings and burgers. their breakfast burritos are way better than any fastfood joint. they do have nice equipment.

    cc tanker Thanks this.

Got my email today from sheetz, they said that I didnt meet the minimum requirments. I am assuming it was the tanker endorsement. Thanks to the practice tests here I will be going and getting that endorsement this weekend then I will re-apply.

After a good conversation on the phone they set up an interview in about a week. I cant wait! I'll update soon. Also if anyone has more anymore info
that would be cool too, but I should know the skinny in a week I guess.

Update on my interview with sheetz. I think that it went very well. Although I was hoping for an immediate answer it looks like it will be a process. They told me that they will be hiring for 2 open positions later in the summer due to a couple guys retiring. It looks like there will be 2 maybe 3 interviews, one being a road test maybe. Still Im excited, and the waiting game is killing me.
The first interview though was pretty detailed, kind of a get to know each other meeting which I liked. It lasted about an hour and a half and coverd everything from how much pressure it takes to shift a gear to wages, benifits, and shifts. cant say there was any negative at all in the first meeting. Sheetz looks like a great company to work for. will update if they call me for a second interview.
