Thanks for the expert opinion LOL J/K but all opinions are OK.. I know what I have heard (the same you have probably) that's why I hope to hear from drivers that work for ROEHL... not from other companies... One thing I have learned from other experts that do drive for Roehl is that Roehl is not the same as other companies in several ways..

It's probably just comes down to a matter of personal preference. I've been with Roehl for 2 years and have pulled a van during that time. About a year ago they must have been short on reefer drivers, because my FM had me doing some reefer loads for a couple weeks.

After that experience, I can say that I prefer the dry vans. The reefers are a pain to sweep out because they have ridges in the floors, and half the time you have to use a hose and clean the trailer out with water for the next customer. In addition, with reefer customers you have to deal with a lot more lumpers, and they are notorious for keeping you waiting for literally hours as they get you unloaded. Finally, you only get paid an extra cent per mile on the reefer fleet, so for me it just isn't worth it.

That's my two cents. Hope that helps. Good luck!

I am flat out poor only 20.00 left over for an entire month after bills. I have been to PTL (paschal truck lines) company training where in their advertisements they make no mention of lodging or food. Found out after arriving that I had to pay for all my own meals. Had to pay my hotel out of my first check. I didn't stay and get trained because I had no money at all at the time. so that was a little insensitive as not all companies do very good advertising.

Do you experienced (2 or more years) ROEHL drivers double clutch after you completed your training?? Respond by "notification messages" if you would rather not on forum. I've heard there are sensors on board? On clutch pedal?

You lost me. Training is only 2 or 3 days each week? Never heard of that anywhere.

What potential new hires? You get to hang out at the company and get fed all day to see if you like the scenery before starting training?

And when I hear companies say they pay for transportation to the training facility, I never know if they're talking about a van from the hotel to the classroom, or hopping aboard one of their trucks to make your way to their state from anywhere in the country for training. Now THAT would be a nice perk.

Anyone know if this company could keep someone west of the Mississippi all the time if that's what a driver wanted? I hear negative stories about driving in the midwest and east all the time....slower traffic, bad weather, etc. I just don't see how anyone makes as much money per hour, compared to something like Atlanta to L.A., since the roads aren't as straight or as dry, especially in the winter.

Of the 15 company training programs reviewed at this website, this one received the highest praise from the site's webmaster. It's the only school about which he said,

"If I were choosing a trucking company today, Roehl would receive very serious considerations from me."

(Kinda makes it sound like the other's wouldn't even receive his serious consideration.)

Since I can't get referral fees, I should get free training for finding this and posting it here, sending them countless drivers now who will read this discussion board.

See, I'm doing my homework. You're welcome. Now throw money. :biggrin_255:

Don't know anything or even heard of sensors on he clutch. Been with Roehl 3 years and yes I double clutch. Why? Because the company expects it of me. It all boils down to integrity.
