So I have only been a driver for 6 months. I am an OTR driver for a company based out of Nashville. I understand the career process of having to pay my dues and gain experience, actually driving the truck, picking up and delivering loads to various shippers and receivers. Also dealing with co-workers and others individuals within in the company, who don't understand that the drivers are actually the ones who create the revenue for the company. Not to mention the horribly less than desirable pay. I guess what my concern is, if all the things newbies go thru is really necessary. Are there any LTL companies out there who hire drivers with less than 1 years experience? If anyone in the North & South Carolina, Georgia area could relay some information on this, I would really appreciate it. Thanks drivers! STAY SAFE!
Getting burnt out on this OTR trucking thing!

What's the worst thing that could happen? They tell you to come back later? -
Stay positive, take the next six months to lay out your future plans. Set some goals and direct your attention on achieving them. This newbie breakin time will soon pass. As far as dealing with co-workers, your strengthening your skills on how to deal with not so appreciable people. Hang in there.....keep giving it 100%!!

As bigjoel posted, Google, apply, you never know. Tanker/hazmat endorsements with TWIC open many doors to good paying jobs and don't have to deal with crappy shippers & receivers.
Milan Express
Averitt Express
Both have LTL divisions.
Estes
SouthEastern
Ozark is truckload, but, no NYC, no Canada, and 100% no-touch freight.mje and KingTrucker Thank this. -
I hoped some one would give me a chance. I have 40 Tons at my beck & call. I have to know what to do.

i guess you drive for western express lol here is my advice, stay there for another 6 months to complete your full year and then go get a local job anywhere you want, im a local driver i go to nyc or anywhere in ny and philadelphia almost everyday i promiss you you have to know your #### and if you don't you will ended up with preventable accidents and stuff like that i learn something new everyday and car drivers will wait for the last seconde to get into the exit lane, some of them won't back up for you to turn i always get a cup of coffee everytime im about to cross george washington bridge other than that i will be getting out of my truck and slap car drivers for doing stupid things in front of my rig

In Conover NC is a company that does LTL All over the S.E, N.E and basically the country, the fact that you live down there they will keep you east of the Mississippi! Unless you want to venture to the Left Coast! The name is Watkins and Shepard! The terminal in Conover is a Orientation terminal and with your 6 months they will take care of you, while the mileage pay isn't that great, they pay per stop after the first and last!. I wish you luck.
