My time here at maverick is finally up. I have given them my 100% and they gave me experience. But know its time to make money. The past few months I haven't been getting any miles. Had a talk with the F.M many times saying these 1700 mile weeks ant going to cut it. Not his fault just how things are I guess. I going to miss it there but I need to get experience driving a manual truck instead of this auto. In my opinion Mav automatic trucks are dangerous to so degree. They have NO power starting off and slow to get going and rpm's want go over 15. But besides that very nice equipment .

So now I'm headed to btc to try percentage pay. Starting off at 27% or if I don't like it I can move back to mileage making 44 cpm which is still a raise from what I'm making now( only 3 cents more) not to much of a big deal. Also I'm excited and driving a 10 speed, finally I can be called a gear jammer ...moving up in life. But one of my biggest things is going to a smaller company I get tired of call and giving my name and truck number. I was to call and they know my voice, or at least name lol. I like the look of the new Mack trucks they seem pretty nice and I was told they had some power so well see. I'm headed to Memphis August 5 so wish me luck.

I agree Pete...However, automatics for inexperienced drivers? Not a good combo...In summer, sure...Winter, no way!! From what I gather in this guys comments above, he wasn't an experienced driver...Autoshifts are great once you get experience, but there's no better way to learn the ropes than going full stick from the start...Some might argue that starting out in an autoshift truck allows them to focus on getting experience without the distractions of having to upshift, or downshift, but I disagree...By the time you get to be an experienced driver in an autoshift truck, you have already learned your particular 'bad driving habits' and then you go and throw having to learn a stickshift on top of that?? No thank you!! Learn in a stick, that way you will know if you can handle the whole shebang, or you can't...Thats just my opinion...Thanks for your time!! Be safe!!

I agree it is a lot stressful learning how to drive a auto. I'm just making my next step to being a real truck driver. Lol how do you like driving a Mack truck?

I personally love my Mack. The ones we drive at BTC have awesome power which is great considering we deliver to a lot of off-road jobsites. The sleeper areas are quite spacious with a lot of storage areas, and the low torque ratio with the tranny makes shifting a snap. Its a little hard to get used to at first, but, after a bout a day or so, you should be able to shift this beast with the best. All in all, its a great piece of equipment that BTC has supplied us with.

By the way, welcome to the fleet driver. ;-)
