Rodeorowdy, any recommendations which company or ... ANYTHING.... Who's hiring. My problem is wuite simple: I can't afford going to TX and I am desperate for job. I can't find anything over the net.

Not looking to start an argument but I think your comment is a little misleading and could discourage people. You CAN find housing, especially in Midland/Odessa. You just need to understand that the economy here is very strong and rents reflect it. You might have to stay in a hotel for a few weeks, but rentals are available.

Flavius, many companies here are hiring. How do I know? Anyone who drives around S. Texas can see all the signs that say -CDL Drivers Wanted-, to be hired though would depend on ones credentials or certifications and experience.
Just in my personal search 2 months ago, I found 4 companies (now it could be different) that'll hire and train a new CDL grad.: Llewellyn Oil Co., Key Energy, Movac & NAC Services.
During my 2 day job search (which started upon leaving Weatherford, TX.) I visited almost every truck yard I drove past and each one I visited said they were hiring, even the ones that didn't have a -Wanted- sign displayed (my yard did not).
But you can't do this from a distance. As I learned from reading here, Texas is a place where you still can walk in unannounced, be welcomed to sit down for a chat with a manger AND be hired on the spot; this happened to me TWICE.
Before coming to Texas I went to S.E. OH & W. PA. looking for an oil field job in the Marcellus & Utica Shale fields. I called many companies there who had jobs posted online to ask if I could meet someone to give my resume to. Every office except two told me something like "apply online first". I could go on about my job-hunting experience there but you get the point.
You have to remember, it (almost always) takes $ to make $. W/o $ you can only search for a job online...

No it is not West TX. They have something West TX can never have, a very large swimming pool

Don't forget the oppressive humidity.

Everybody down here is complaining about the humidity. I don't think it's that bad compared to Missouri.

Never been to MO, but I spent the last three months working a little north of you in George West. I just returned to Midland with another company and don't miss that hot muggy nastiness one bit ..... and I spent most of my life in Florida!
