got a lead on a local company that produce and delivers sod off standard flatbeds . big plus is they are 10 min. from my house. going in blind, know very little about what pay to expect, or work involved.

what pay should I expect to to offered that would be reasonable. I am thinking it will be hourly and all one day local deliveries. theIr equipment that I've seen on the road seem to be average condition, Peterbilts.
    the geographical area is NC/SC

I haul sod ocassionally. Throw a few straps and cover it with a mesh tarp. Very easy considering mesh tarps are light and securing them is easy because they don't catch the wind.

Most of what I haul goes to the oil fields in No Dak.

i applied once. but i guess they didn't like my test drive. it was $15 an hour. no lunch. and no overtime. and seasonal work. i would have been looking for work again in 4 months.

that was when the economy was flying. so i'm sure the wage is much lower now. like every other job is these days in utah.

If you have enough experience, and you want to stay local, try to haul gas... It will be year round work, and it's easy.

    MJ1657 Thanks this.

these were the responses that I expected. found out hauling mulch is big part of operation too. the seasonal part is a concern since current driving job is either busy or real busy

I haul sod everyday paid hourly and when I'm not hauling it I'm laying, mowing, or loading it. I do it all you could say. we grow our own sod in missouri. It's easy big rolls I strap every row ,pallets of little rolls I mesh tarp then strap down every row. I keep a blower on the truck to blow off the trailer before I leave the job site.

well worse than expected, $13.00 an hour no overtime pay, no benefits, so I would be working to pay for Obama care, taxes, gas and payment for my car to get there and some left over for potted meat 40-50 hour week. ooh but they love my good record and experience.

But I guess some would celebrate at the offer
