If it grinds from low to high or high to low, its usually the back half needs to be rebuilt. Assuming the air supply is good. The XY wouldnt usually cause a grind between ranges that I have ever seen. Is this an ultrashaft?

update from my previous post, I am currently (right now) working on the same issue in a truck a year newer, I am in the process of pulling down the back box to overhaul. I agree fellas thats where this guy should start. hope this helps

I don't have a super teen in this Truck. Just reg ten speed. And it only grind when shifting from 5th to 6th gear.

That is why everyone is suggesting to you that the problem is in the back half of the trans. That is the part of the trans that shifts low to high.
