It sure seems that any rewards are a long way off.

I went to orientation today. My performance behind the wheel wasn't sparkling... :biggrin_25513:

I have a really big concern. Unless I'm wrong, it looks like my net take home pay for the first several months is about $325/week ($420 minus taxes, no health insurance). There's no way that's going to cover my side of the bills. If I estimate $60/week for WalMart groceries and cooking in the truck, I need about $510 net to stay on top of everything.

Deni is not happy. She told me to ask again. I did tell her that first jobs don't pay a lot until you have a year's experience. I know there are companies that pay less. Is there any way to jump out of the fixed weekly pay rate? I know it's there to protect you when you first start out. If a driver is averaging good miles after he solos, shouldn't he be able to forgo the fixed pay early? I don't want to wait six months for a bonus if it's going to plunge us into fun times with collection agencies.

I really like this company. The trucks are nice and everyone has so far been reasonable. This really seems like an unfettered man's game, though. I should've done this when I was 22 and my biggest expenses involved hockey tickets and pumping the car with a full tank of gas.

    ? about Pcola...
does anyone know if there's any female traines out of there... When I called, the recruiter said form where I lived ( Texas) I'd have to go 48 (ok, no prob) and pbly go to Pennsacola for training...
Me and the Freightshaker finally agreed on how to parallel park and I got my lic!
    Thanks
    Mary

Unless things have changed you should be on mileage pay as soon as you get in your own truck, at least that's the way it was when I trained off in 2010 and went solo.

    I am on the 90/90. 7 X $90.00 = $630.00
minus taxes (single, zero deductions, health insurance, plus paying off the inverter, etc.) + idle bonus (you'll learn about this later), I have been taking home *over* $450.00 a week.

    woof
did they change the way they pay? orientation you had a set pay, but after that, you made what you ran (unless you did the 90 program they had but even then if you made more you got your earnings if they were over the 90 guarantee... or whatever that program was. so... I posted what I made my first year at may on one of my postings back in january when I left the company, I did exactly one year January 2011 to Jan 2012. after the first few months I usually averaged over 600 a week, but i also didn't really take home time. if you aren't taking home at least 450 a week, you really need to find another company... newbie or not. and you dont HAVE to have OTR experience to find a local job, you just have to look more

    Krash
as long as its a 48 female it doesn't matter where she is based out of... the issue will be finding a female trainer period

    WoofWagon Thanks this.
