They are there. Some of the "more difficult", shall we say, that I've run across over this way are "Chicago Central" and "Atlanta trans III" or something like that. I think I ticked off the ones I've been working with the past year on a load of roll stock a couple of weeks ago. They used to ask where I was at all the time haven't heard a peep from them since. I didn't want that load they asked me for a price.. really a situation where you think to yourself, no way... Hated to do that to some of the better ones, yeah even though they are CHR, they're still good people to work with..

If I don't like what they say. I just tell them I'm pricing as more than one broker has this load posted. The money and attitude changes quick most
of the time. Loads aren't exclusive much any more. CHR does have a few hard core customers and the rates with them are ok-fair year round.
I had to add this after calling on a CHR load today Pa. to miami 1134 miles = 2200.00 plus they want 8ft tarps and you have to have a 5 truck fleet to get this prize of a load. less than two bucka a mile to work real hard and you're travelling
from the armpit to the buttcrack of trucking world. Only place worse is texas.Last edited: May 31, 2013

What none of you seem to grasp is the Loads CH Robinson offers are based on a market rate. Different shipping Locations will have different markets, from those shipping locations, the destinations will have different markets. You will see flucuations in seasons as well, we pay very well for certain loads, adn not so well for others. The complaining about how cheap and heavy the loads are is irrelevant, you choose to take the loads, not us. And CH is not going anywhere, doesnt matter if a select few "boycott" the loads, there is always someone willing to work hard and be rewarded for it.
-
Well nine times out of ten "market rates" DONT PAY THE BILLS. In my opinion that is the JUST GET BY RATE!!!! You guys want SAFE CARRIERS to haul your freight pay a reasonable rate for a SAFE CARRIER that maintains his or her equipment.
-
We do hire some Carriers who are less expensive, and if they work out, they hit OTD, they dont complain and make a huge fuss at every turn, then yes we continue to book them. We also DNU people for having a poor track record and dont use them in the future. Maybe what is needed is a better financial planner or a budget to make the pay you are receiving work. We have plenty of carries we work with to book our freight twice. We use the best carriers with the most competitive price. We have customers we have to keep happy so we need good carriers, we also have to make money on our end, (we lose money on tons of loads). We dont make 40% on the load like i have read on here. Most times it is just a couple bucks, but we book a whole bunch of freight which is why our profits show success. I think a lot more of the complainers and whistle blowers on here need to realize that.

What I like about CHR is I always get my rate from them every time. When they don't want to play there's a thousand of their competitors and always a handful of them who are willing to. Someone always needs a truck. If it's the right time of day and right load you can name your over the top rate even in a market saturated with trucks. The easiest thing in the world is to say "no thanks" and walk away. They need that truck, not the other way around. I'll give Robinson credit for what they do cause they do it very well - cover a lot of freight for nothing. They're so intimidating to most they're known as "cheap n heavy robbingsome". With that kind of psychology prevailing out there it's no wonder they make it look so easy. They've already "gotcha" with an operator who believes that hokum. I get excellent rates from Robinson and have no gripes about them at all, well, except for maybe the boiler room "load specialists" who only know what the script says. Kind of annoying. Thank goodness for the check call app.

I love how every load from them is a critical load. I've had to tell them on several occasions I could not make their appointment times. When they asked why I said that there was this little thing called the hours of service....

Your statement, "Most times it is just a couple bucks" is somewhat laughable. Your standard target is 20% and you usually get it. For customers who drop a last minute, critical load on you, 35% and up to the sky. Not trashing CH, I'm actually somewhat of a fan. CH is the Vampire Squid of the transportation industry, tentacles everywhere and a money making machine. Nothing wrong with that. You're a business and so am I, some days you win, some days I win. Just part of the game but don't drop in here and spout BS about a "couple bucks".

If you would like daily updates on which loads we profit on and which loads we do not and i would love to send them to you! We do only make a couple bucks on loads and we make good money on other loads. It is not BS to think that we arent making as much as you think. Let's take a look here, believe the drivers who are ticked and have no clue? Or the guy who books the loads, sees the profit and knows the market's day top day changes? Saying we have a percentage that we hit like 20% or 35% and up on "critical" loads is actually what is laughable. The BS comes more from the truckers who say that cant make a living under $2/mile. And who make a fuss about the fuel prices as if you cant write them off. I appreciate the understanding of business, but when people act like we are part of some scheme where we print money and bury the little guys is purely untrue. -
I challenge you to operate a truck long term on spot market freight at an all in average less than $2 a mile. You don't understand the costs. There's little profit left at $2 a mile.
