I will have to let you know when the times comes.
I will be in Tampa by Tuesday. Then off for the full week. Plan to get a ride with a driver up to Jacksonville The following week to get a truck. Or to Atlanta if they don't have one available in Jacksonville.
Then it will be getting on the loop. Not sure of what the contracts are, dates or anything else yet. Was looking at my customer direction book earlier and looking at shipper locations on google earth to get use to where things are in the area. And looking for parking areas near home on google earth lol. Kind of interesting way to do it.
But I figure I will get a list of trucking company's in my area and shippers, then go (in a car) and talk to them. See if I can find a place to park weekends.
Have not checked with Heartland yet on drop yards either. May have one in area, but I kind of doubt it. I will be posting more in JJs thread when I learn more.
This is a big move for the wife. I am just glad that my job will be able to add some stability.
Will be interesting to see how this works out though. I know my region very well, and everyone in dispatch. Now I am going several regions over where I know nobody. I don't know the lanes, the shippers etc. I have grown very use to knowing exactly what freight should be available in my area whenever I get empty.

Ain't nothin to it but to do it! ;) not my first time here (KFCI), but I remembered it immediately. The trick is stay away fr the clusters of empty spots so you have time to wiggle back and forth. 500 mile DH in and now it's nice and easy to the 99. Just need a place to camp out for the night...

From what I can gather from my boss, right now nothing's changing, and it's unlikely any big changes are going to happen until after the first of the year. It seems that Central is going to take over doing most of their reefer work. As of right now, they haven't decided if they're changing our name. Keep in mind this isn't set in stone, it's only what I've heard.

My biggest concerns are personal. I worry the Intermodal department is going to be shut down, I worry we're going to lose our drop yard (which is more of when, not if), and I worry that I won't be able to take my truck home. But since nothing's changing right now, I'm just trying to push those worries into a corner and deal with them later.

Three words to beware of. ( No IMMEDIATE Effect ) What does this say about the future?

Oh, I'm sure in the future things will change drastically. I haven't seen Swift purchase a company and keep it intact yet. How long it takes to absorb and change things is the question.

I don't imagine many changes will come in this year, but starting next year I do think we'll see changes.

I thought Central was owned by the Dick Simon family?

No, the Simon Family had Dick Simon Trucking, but when they sold the business, it moved into the Moyes family. The CEO of Central is the son in law of Jerry Moyes.

Ahhhhh. Simon sold out after those two major wrecks, the one in Utah and the one in the capital building in Sacramento.
