So, you are a new driver. You bright, shiny, new CDL License is just burning a hole in your pocket. You want to get one of those high paying jobs they tell you about.
    or....
You have been driving a good long while, but your company is going downhill fast, and you want to get while the gett'n is good.
    or....
As happened recently with me, you violated some company policy, and have been fired....

Whatever the case, you are looking for a job in the trucking industry. There are a lot of great jobs out there, but you need to find them. The trick is to weave your way through all the bad offers, to find the good ones. The easiest way to get the widest scope of choices, is to use the Internet. You can use a website for your job search, which is specifically focused on finding a job.

I have tried quite a few websites in the past 2 months, and out of all the ones I tried, I have come across 2 really good ones.

The first is "Indeed.com". On this website, you fill out an application once, and save it. When you see a job listing that interests you, you can simply hit the "Apply" button. After you fill in your name, social security number, and date of birth on the application, a box will pop up, offering to auto-fill the rest of the information on the application. You need to scroll through the pages, to confirm all the info was put in correctly, and then you are done. It makes it easy to apply to 10 or 15 different companies, with little more effort than applying to just one.

After that, I found "PhillyHelpWanted.com". This website was a good one too, but focused on a specific region, instead of a national search. If you live in a large city, they might have a website for you. Just type in the name of the large city you are near, followed by "HelpWanted.com", and see what you find. If not, just go to PhillyHelpWanted.com, and use that as a gateway to the organization. Pick a different region that is close to you. The info on this website is not any better than Indeed.com, but they make it easier to scroll through the offers, before looking at them in greater detail.

I also tried "Monster.com", and think that website is a joke. I did a search for "CDL Driver", and subscribed for E-mail updates. Next thing I know, my inbox is flooded with job offers of "accounts payable", "Sales Manager", and a ton of other stuff that had nothing to do with what I was looking for. And the jobs that I did find that were trucking related, were all minimum wage jobs.

Give Indeed or helpwanted a try, and see what you think. I am not getting any credit for sending people there. That's why I don't ask you to put in any special offer code or anything when you get there. I am just trying to share one of those rare good finds on the Internet I come across now and then. After you try them, come back here and share your experience. Maybe I was just lucky, and other will not think these websites are so great. We will see.

I hope this helps newbies and Highway Veterans alike.

    Indeed is an excellant site.

The search can be specified, eliminating alot of unwanted jobs.

They even have reviews of companies, by current employees.
